Actually me too! I have the Series-2 I actually use during the day, and my older "left-over" Series-1 that I use as a wake-up-me-only alarm clock (i.e., not disturb my wife). I used to have some other company's "silent alarm clock," but it turn out no-so-silent; it buzzed a lot. The Apple Watch's vibrate is pretty much silent.

Thankfully, I don't have sleep apnea. Sorry to hear you do...

Use a cloud valley fixate gel pad to mount behind the string wheel. See my picture above.

Will that not damage the dash in hot temperatures? Here in TX, it's hotter than Hades.

I don't think so but recommend you talk to the manufacturer. I've had it on my dash in 90 degree heat.

I've had my Prime Advanced for just under a month now (replaced a 2008 Prius that also had the JBL navigation but DVD based and without traffic). I love the turn directions that show up on the HUD and the big screen is nice (though the size/position of some of the displays like ETA are not well setup for use while driving). While the navigation interface (especially voice output) is a little better than the '08 version it still SUCKS compared to Google Maps navigation on my Android phone. Today it told me to take a detour through the Bronx to avoid a traffic jam and at one point it told me to drive down a segment of road that DOESN'T EXIST (the road ended at a train track while the navigation showed it continuing straight through). Between that and traffic lights the detour ended up adding 20 minutes beyond what the navigation estimated.

That plus the lack of the alternate route x minutes slower/faster that pop up on Google Maps while driving is making me lean towards going back to my phone.

For me, I did not want to mount in a cup holder or air vent. I prefer the most clean look I can come up with. After trying to figure out the best spot, I decided to sacrifice the audio controls next to the screen. Realistically, those controls are easily accessible on the steering wheel. I hope this helps!

The big display screen for GPS use, at least, is in a poor position. If you want to look at upcoming directions and other info, you lose line of sight of your road; dangerous! If you only rely on voice promptings from the GPS, you're safer, except in my recent (and probably final) experiment with the GPS it completely screwed up the directions to a gas station (actually located on a prominent street corner), and put me in a residential cul de sac!! Garmin still rocks!!

Thanks Tim. Which version of iOttie is that? There seems many different versions on Amazon. A link would be awesome too.

I've had vent mounted setups before and found that long-term they can wear on and distort the thin vent blinds. Maybe the one above is different, but I've had the iOttie for over a year and it holds the big iPhone 7 plus perfect:

Does it work even with a plastic phone case?

The current Garmin I use is a DriveLuxe 51LMT (free lifetime maps and traffic, from your phone!). Fully voice controlled and very fast. Got this from GPS Store, for $100 off, $250, free shipping. Mounted to lower left windshield, easily detaches with standard magnetic mount. Loads a NEW address in about 15 seconds; Much, much faster than ANY built-in GPS so far available. You can bring up RECENT or SAVED locations even more quickly.

I tried two magnet vent holders on Premium, the first one was mentioned at least twice in this thread (or maybe another thread), the MaxBoost on Amazon (about $8 for 2pack). It's cheap and works well IF you mount it on the vent to the left of the steering wheel near driver's window. If you mount it on the vent to the right of steering wheel, next to the big screen, it doesn't grip well and sometimes falls down with a big phone. However, I recently bought the Spigen Kuel QS11 one ($10 for 1). It's more than doubled the price, but it worked well even on the right side of steering wheel. Well worth the price if you plan to mount it there. I don't like those stickon ones as they could ruin dash etc or mount it on top of the screen which is either too far for a short person to reach or blocks view of the screen. The magnet vent ones work quite well.

How do you add a mount to the vent in the prius primes? The typical vent holders do not go far enough back to grab the horizontal blades and the vertical piece moves too much.
