I bought a left over 2016 Prius 4 Friday and traded in my old 2008 with 108,000 miles. I wanted a Prius Prime but the wife said no. The old Prius was the best car I ever owned. I put front struts in the old one a year ago and changed the right front wheel bearing two years ago. HID headlights were probably my biggest complaint, a few expensive light bulb change and a ballast change. I hope the new one lives up to the old ones standards. I have only driven it about 30 miles. My wife wants mud guards and the dealer can't get them. I know, it's a Prius and it will affect gas mileage. I haven't been able to find something that will fit, any ideas.
The same question I asked too, and as mentioned Daytona Beach Toyota has them. They are Canadian made for the Canadian version. Got a set last week and during a relatively good weather day got the front ones installed. The fronts, at least on the new Prius 2, have existing holes for using one of the push type plastic connectors (I re-used the existing one just fine), and just below are two hex head bolts that fit the other two lower flap holes. The inside of the front flaps I just used one of the supplied coarse threaded phillips head screws which will self-tap into the wheel well liner. There is just below the existing bolts, an extension of the flap material and hole but as that would have involved drilling into the wheel well quarter panel flange, and didn't seem mechanically necessary. The two rear flaps which I haven't yet attached, do involve drilling mounting holes into the plastic quarter panel wheel well flange, and just couldn't bring myself to do it.... Prior to winter's onset the fronts were my main priority. Being in the Engineering field quite a few years, I may experiment with different types of RTV adhesives which will bond both to the flap material and the wheel well liner plastic and install the rear flaps that way. Deciding to wait and not drill, I swear the Prius made a very slight sigh of relief...
Maybe in a while she'll forget? Seriously, try it for a while, you might be asking yourself why that was so urgent. I've had my share of mud flaps: our slew hondas always had the standard on the front, and I'd add the rear ones. But with the Prius, since it comes with no mud flaps, I thought I'd try old-dog-new-tricks, and it's worked out fine. I use to pull them off maybe once a year, clear out all the crud that'd built up in behind, don't miss them.
It's a wife thing. She has always had them and thinks every one of her cars should have them. I just do what I am told. lol
