Cool. I am keeping the climate in ECO at 70 degrees, with no ICE.

    This link works.

November 15, 2017 — Model year 2012-2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid cars are recalled to repair problems that can cause reduced power, stalling and illuminated warning lights and messages.

Nearly 40,000 of the cars have electric vehicle fuses that can malfunction when the cars are repeatedly operated in electric mode under high-load driving, such as when the cars are traveling up long hills.

Toyota says it's possible the car will still be able to move forward, but the power will be reduced. But in other cases, the car will stop moving because the hybrid system shuts down.

Dealers will fix the problem by replacing the electric vehicle fuse once the Prius recall begins in January 2019.

Owners who want to learn more should call Toyota at 800-331-4331.

CarComplaints.com will update this page when federal safety regulators release details about the fuse recall.

Shouldn't the recall year be 2018?

that is weird. fortunately for me, 'high load driving' is not in my vocabulary.

how many feet will a pip travel on ev at high load uphill?:p

idk anyone having an issue yet, but i wonder how replacing a fuse can correct it? i thought fuses were there in case underlying problems developed.

I've heard of several people caught with "loaded driving, while high"!
My 2012 PIP never got a chance at high load driving in EV mode; it'd just fire up the ICE. I solved the recall problem when a subliminal insight warned me to sell the beast at 103,000 miles!

Aw, dude!! Have you at least driven the puppy? I'm not saying to buy it, but if you can at least play with it a little.... I've done that with Beemers, Vettes, and Audis, cars I'd never buy; an interesting opportunity to drive the Mirai, absolutely convinced me I have made the right decision buying my Prime. The car's only failure: the failure to disappoint!! BTW, what's your EV-only range? I could only get 9 miles or less, working hard.

i'm at 13 now, was 15-16 until the weather cooled off, and it will drop a bit more when the real cold comes. it's all back roads at <30mph.
i did drive a prime back in the spring, but i must have been out of it, cause i didn't notice much difference. (except the hatch space)
i called and scheduled the test drive, asked them to charge the battery, and of course, when we got there, they hadn't.
i force charged a few miles, but apparently not enough to put it in ev mode.
i asked about an extended test drive, but they were unwilling.
tbh, i'm down to 7 or 8,000 miles a year, and 3,500 out of 4,000 miles on my last tank were electric, so it would be for no other reason than to have a new car. the benefits of retirement i guess.

Yeah, sounds like they were totally unfair to you AND the car. Maybe I should go back to selling cars again, in Boston this time!! Sounds like loser salespeople to me.
"Selling" means persuading someone to part with money for goods or services. It's not "Order-Taking", and it involves Demonstrating the product properly and informing the prospect of the Benefits of the product's Features!! It also involves qualifying the client as a likely prospect who can afford to buy the product. However, though the real salesperson might judge that the prospect is not a buyer, the real salesperson knows that if he is a Professional, the unlikely client probably knows others who might be buyers, and if the salesperson does a good job, the unlikely client, if asked, is often willing to refer others to him. That is normally a much easier sale, thanks to the 3rd party endorsement. Conclusion: the dumb donkeys at the dealership screwed up; what a shame!

Bad enough that Toyota half assed the Prime by just throwing the battery into the back, but I think they put in enough effort than to simply reuse PiP parts.

It's possible they underestimated how high the component's draw could get, or the lowest bidder's fuse isn't up to what they called for. They also may not be actually talking about a fuse from the car's fuse box, but a component within a part.

    Ok, here's the deal:
Establish a new car review blog, "Bisco Cars"
Daily scrub the car manufacturer news postings (and treat them as if I wrote them.)
Quote what is important to you and add your opinions
Visit vendor friendly forums and cite your blog posts
Begin publishing reviews via YouTube and articles submitted to 'regular press'.
Looks as if 2-3 GoPro are needed with quality suction cup mounts
Rent or borrow cars from dealers and make short, 2-4 minute, reviews
Get Press credentials to attend vehicle releases.
You'll need a hat and being from Boston:
    Quaker Hat
Volunteer to conduct a series of week-long '<model>' tests.
Remember to claim every mile as a business expense of your blog.

Mr. Bisco, either move your bed or your "Prime" so they are in close proximity, then simply roll out of bed for your "Pleasure Test Cruise". Adjust clothing in advance to suit your miserable/unacceptable weather, and you sir, are off! And don't say that I'M off for making this suggestion!!

    .
The difficult part will come when you have to post your evaluation of the driven beast; you'll have to type carefully to avoid breaking your fingers in the extreme Bostonian cold!!
