Has anyone used the Dorman 949-119 steel wheel their Prius. I'm looking for a decent set of wheels for snow tires. That Dorman model is not listed by the manufacturer as a fit, but is listed for the 2007 to 2013 Yaris and 2003 to 2008 Corolla. The spec is at: Wheel | 939-119 | 15 x 6 In. I do not know about the Dorman, but I bought 4 steelies from TireRack.com for my 2009 Gen II (yup, I know the OEMs are 16" alloys, but the 15" steelies have the same bolt-pattern and offset, and alloy rims tend to suffer in the New England winters) for $52 ea. inc shipping). That, plus taking advantage of the local dealer's "buy 3 get the 4th for $1" deal, set me up with a set of winter shoes shod with Blizzak WS-80s two winters ago, and coincidentally they were swapped on yesterday now the weather is turning cooler! This Corolla rim is compatible, and has the correct hub opening, does not require adapter ring (aftermarket rims will have oversized center opening, to make them one-size-fits-all). I got them for about $70 apiece through a dealership: Corolla steel rim, part no: 42611-02471 (2003-2008 corolla or matrix, CE, LS, S) And these are utiltarian lug nuts work fine. I would prefer closed-end, rusts less, but if you put drop of oil on the tip of each stud after install, brush it around a bit, they're fine: steel rim lug nuts, part no: 90942-01007 (plain, open-ended, galvanized)
Not sure how much the Dorman's are pricing out, but you also might consider finding some used Prius wheels...they look much better than steelies! I found a set of 2012 wheels here on Priuschat and paid $200 (plus $100 shipping) for my 2011 Prius. And for my 2015 Prius, I found a set from an area junkyard (2010 wheels with TPMS) for $275.
I tried doing the same, but the only OEM 15" rims I could find both on eBay and locally were around $100/ea. I think you lucked out! I was advised to go with 15" snow tyres as there's a far greater selection available!
Just an update on what I've found... The Toyota OEM steel wheels have gotten quite expensive, at least from the dealer. However, there are other options from Dorman and some other vendors on eBay and Amazon. Sizing wise, Wheel-Size.com :: Reference guide for car wheel and tire dimensions such as size, offset, PCD shows the spec for a 2014 Prius: 6Jx15 ET45; PCD=5x100; Center Bore=54.1mm (if 195/65R15 tire) 2006 Corolla: 6JJx15 ET45; PCD=5x100; Center Bore=54.1mm (if 185/65R15 or 195/65R15 tires) 2013 Corolla: 6Jx15 ET33; PCD=5x100; Center Bore=54.1mm (if 195/65R15 tire) So the offset is closest to the older 2006 Corolla, but I'm not sure what the difference is between a J and JJ wheel. From my understanding of offset (the ET figure), and ET of 33 should probably work fine as it's just pushing the wheel and additional 12 mm away from the car, and I don't think there should be any fender interference. Going to something even larger than ET=45 may become a problem as you might interfere with brakes or other items in it's closer (to be honest this offset thing is a bit confusing). It seems like 6x15 steel rims from either Corolla series should work. Just as a reference, Tire Rack sells steel rims with the 2013 Corolla spec for a 2014 Prius.
For my 2013 Prius, I bought used snow tires mounted on 15" steel rims that were on a 2011 Corolla. Don't know what the ET rating was, but having no problems with the steel rims.
