Hello Guys, I am located in Puerto Rico and yes the prius did not got flooded or had any damage due to hurracane Maria. I dont know if the same rules applies in the states. I will finish paying my 2011 prius in Febuary 2018. I heared of an extended warraanty and called the dealer today,,and yes they have this. The dealer salesman told me that the car had only 8 years or 100,000 on the cars battery,,the car right now has only 41,680 miles,,he told me that right now the car does not have warranty on the engine,CVT Trans or anything ,,only batteries. So far i have not had any type of problems with the car. The seller told me that if i wanted the extended warranty on the engine and trans ect it would cost 3,064 for only 48,000 miles . The question for you guys is,,do you think is worth it since the car is running so clean,,,is it expensive? Is it worth it? Any suggestions will be gladly appreciated. Thanks
Not worth it. If you upkeep maintaince scheduly on time and don't drive it abusively, it will withstand and there's not enough miles on it yet. You can always buy extended warranty at anytime for it such as carshield.
agree, that's all profit for the dealer or warranty (insurance) company. save the 3k for any repairs that might be necessary, however unlikely.
I have an extended warranty from Toyota. But the one your describing seems to be more expensive than the top of the line platinum, and for less miles. And it doesn't sound like a warranty offered by Toyota. Toyota's platinum warranty, when purchased new, would extend the bumper to bumper new car warranty 8 years/124k miles. It doesn't cover the hybrid components, nor the interior (seats, carpet). A limited powertrain warranty that covers the car until 90k miles shouldn't be expensive and also should be unnecessary on a well maintained Toyota.
