I have been doing a lot of research today regarding HID kits. I have plenty of past experience with HID kits. Just checking in too see what the census here for the best bang for buck kit? Looking for 4500K, maybe even 5000k. Also, looking to avoid the ground shadow issue (which is new to me)! *All of the threads I dug up here were rather outdated* Thanks all!
I recommend trying out a pair of H9 halogen bulbs, $10 bucks a pop on amazon (Phillips brand). Search for the H9 mod, it’s super simple. I am happier with the H9 bulbs over the HIDs I had and they are cheaper to boot. Almost 2x as bright as the stock bulbs. Good luck!
I have run HID and LED in stock headlamps, everytime I found that I had dark spots and shadowing. I went back to standard bulbs and just accepted that this is as good as it gets 2010 Gen 3
Ditto above. I had dark and light spots no matter how I adjusted my HID's. I went back to stock and prefer solid even light albeit a little bit dimmer. I'm going to wait for LED bulbs to improve and upgrade then. BTW, the the same brand HID looked marvelous in my 2006 Civic so I thought it was odd it turned out so poorly in the Prius.
Same thing with mine. Superrrr bright spots close in front of the car, definitely brighter then halogens but very unnecessary. I adjusted the heck out of them to no avail. I too prefer consistent light spread vs dark and light spots I had with my HIDs
