I have a 2016 prius and fall daylight savings time just happened but mmy prius's clock hasn't changed? We have the right timezone and have daylight savings checked but the dashboard clock hasnt changed.
Yeah for some stupid reason the Entune system doesn't talk to the dual screens above. Yet another reason of how badly behind the Entune system is - it should not only keep the two clocks in sync but it should know when DST starts and ends.
I think that "stupid reason" could be related to my Trim Two that has no Entune system clock or navigation.
If you have the "daylight savings time" option the time may correct itself when you turn it off. I have a few digital clocks where that selection advances/falls back the time as it is switched on/off.
It seems that you have to manually turn "Daylight savings" on and off twice a year on the MFD (Etune) as well as change the clock on the upper display twice a year. Yes having two independent clocks neither of which take advantage of the car's communications facilities to stay synchronized to local time is "stupid". JeffD
Come to Queensland, Australia - we don't have Daylight Savings time (the closer to the equator, the less useful it is to have it). But the nearby state has Daylight Savings - and my phone will click over if I'm close to the border and it links to a tower over the border - the time will change back and forth - just as well I wear a wristwatch.
Most clocks that automatically change are either connected to the internet, connected to a phone signal or are radio controlled, the Prius is none of those so it would involve programming the date into the clock and it doesn't.
You do program the date into my UK car. It has a calendar apparently. It also has wifi and can access the web via my phone using Bluetooth. Further, it has GPS which provides an extremely accurate and high precision clock signal. It could make use of any of these to set the clock, but it doesn't seem to. The calendar is for the monthly fuel usage reports so it's not connected to the clock. The wi-fi will connect you to the internet but only to connect the installed apps not the system software and when you're accessing the web via your phone, you're just tethering the phone not the Prius system. You're right about the GPS connected to the NAV but for some reason it still can't communicate the time signal to the main system. It can't be that difficult surely Toyota.
As the date and time are user entered, one way would be to add (in Spring) or subtract (in the Autumn) the hour on a certain date. The only problem is the date varies year to year.
It's all one system and if Toyota wanted it would be easy enough to do via any of those channels. The clock is not a separate hardware unit like on the Gen2. The car can access the web via tethering. For example it can get traffic updates that way if you set out that way. And it can Google search in the Nav for POI destinations. But I don't think this is a big deal. The car can get weather and traffic data for the Nav over HD radio. Why couldn't it get the time and update it that way? There are probably many other ways to do this. To have two clocks that don't communicate through a system in the vehicle is pretty stupid. You're better than this, Toyota! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The above video was helpful! Will try it, and if it does not work, will go back to Plan B, which always works. Stop by our dealer 5 minutes and no traffic lights away, pop in and ask a young person in service for help checking the pressure in your tires, too. And please tell them how much you appreciate their fine knowledge of the Prius. If you are hungry, they offer free coffee, water bottles and bags of popcorn. A deal hard to beat, especially if you have matching replaced knees and arthritic hands!
