Ah! Makes sense that way. I took you to mean that the gen 4 depreciates faster than the gen 3 or 2 did depreciate. (Comparing new car depreciation in both cases.)

Not your fault. I just didn't notice the twinkle in your eye as you typed. And I guess @bisco must have been looking the wrong way at the wrong time, too. (y) :D

I don't know if it has in your area but it has in Canada. 10¢/litre.

87 ranges from $3.70/gal to $4.30/gal adjusted for today's exchange rate.

For comparison here in Virginia it is about $2.20 per gallon. Prices vary across the country. I assume that is the case in Canada too.

Just be glad you're not having to pay the UK prices for gas. :(

No kidding. When we were there, we drove all over Yorkshire seeing the Abbeys and so on. Petrol was probably our biggest expense. Sure wish we'd had a Prius for that!!

Yup. That range I gave you should cover most of Canada. The Arctic might be a few cents higher.

Both my Gen 2 08' and now my Gen 4 2017 have and had adequate acceleration for me. Of course since I'm now an over 60 Curmudgeon, 50 mph on the Highway is quite sufficient too. I happen to like an average tank in the 70 mpg range. If it happens to PO some kid behind me (no matter how old they may be, I just grin). Since gas prices have been running in the $2.00-2.50 range there are a lot more trucks and "suburban assault vehicles" around then mid-line sedans. The drivers of these beasties think that gas will always be cheap for some reason which eludes me, but neither do they know that its only that way because the government subsidizes the oil companies very heavily because at the current price per barrel allows for very little profit. And some little thing like a oil container ship sunk in the middle of the Strait of Hormuz....

Almost rivals the Canadian dollar price per litre: $1.44 yesterday. As @bisco says, I just fillerup, don't look or think about the price, what can you do? Up here's there's not a lot of variance, and the differences in price are trivial really, a buck or three.

Around town price is holding steady at $1.44 per liter here. Yesterday, out at Costco, I noticed pricewar style congestion at their pumps, where the price is $1.36. Strange herd mentality though, cars stacking up for 20 minutes, crammed in, to save 2~4 dollars.

Be happy with your cheap gas prices in Canada and the US .

Guess how much an imperial gallon of Petrol costs in the UK right now?

I drove past a petrol station yesterday and was horrified to see premium petrol (not super) being advertised for the eye watering sum of £1.2490 per litre.

That’s £1.2490 x 4.54 if you want the price of an imperial gallon of premium petrol in some parts of London.

That’s £5.670 per imperial gallon, folks!

Read it and rejoice that you’re not having to put up with such cruel eye gouging, brutal knee to the groin, prices! You can almost metaphorically see the motorists weeping as they fill up at the fuel garages.

By the way, something wonderful has happened.....in London, anyway. Hybrids! Hybrids everywhere. They’re not just minicab taxis anymore. They’re not just Uber’s anymore.

There’s been a notable proliferation of Toyota Yaris Hybrids nipping about in the streets. There’s the Auris Hybrid too, and that C-HR crossover Hybrid’s popping up all over the place too!

    Suddenly, Hybrids are cool...!!!

With petrol prices so high, more and more people are getting interested in Toyota Hybrids. They’re not buying the nasty myths about hybrids anymore!

The funniest bit is seeing tons of 05 Gen 2’s still silently gliding past quietly in the streets, indignantly refusing to die! They just keep rolling. More and more people are finally getting it; Hybrids save considerably on motoring fuel bills - especially in the UK.

Especially at those eye watering prices!

With the Canadian dollar currently at $1.27 to the U.S dollar, that's $1.82 US per liter or $6.90 US per US gallon if my arithmetic is right. So way more for an imperial gallon. We're paying about $2.45 per US gallon in my area.

You have the exchange backwards. $1 CDN == $0.78557 US That would be $4.29 per US gallon. Still very high.

Thanks, @fuzzy1 & @Prodigyplace. I got the conversion right but had the conversion ratio upside-down. $1.27 CDN = $1.00 US. Or $1.00 CDN = $0.785 US. Same ratio, just should have been $1.14 US per liter. Good catch!

Still really high, though. My sympathies to our friends up north in such a huge country.
