Hello, Sorry for the newb question but I just got my Prime last night. There does not seem to be any real iPhone direct integration. Is there any advantage to having an iPhone plugged in via USB? (e.g. iPhone via USB on CarPlay is integrated very well vs Bluetooth.) Thanks!
Yes. With the Entune app You get live traffic updates. Real time gas station prices. Myheart radio integration Pandora integration And a few other apps. The curious thing is all this works via Bluetooth for Android but for iOS, you must be tethered through USB.
Oh, thanks. I assumed that would mostly all work with Bluetooth on for IOS too. Damned Apple! and Toyota and no CarPlay, for that matter! Also, it looks like there is not texting integration? Have to use Siri? Thanks again! Much appreciated! So much to learn!
Texting works with my Samsung Galaxy S7 in my Prime Advanced. While driving, you can have texts and emails read to you, automatically. When stopped, it will allow you to read the messages! .
Left side of steering wheel; you'll see the phone icons; left to right, "answer", "hang up", and "call/commands"! .
No, that isn't right. I have an iPhone and the car will alert me when I get an incoming text, and will also read it out to me. I turned that option off though, for me it was annoying.
Ditto. I turned that off as well. Irritating when you’re trying to listen to the radio. BTW, I have an iPhone 6Plus. Unsupervised!
OK, I just found that Pandora worked from an iPhone 7 via Bluetooth!? I was even able to Thumbs Up and Thumbs down. I have yet to hook my iPhone 7 up via USB but it seems there is no real point. If Pandora works and there is no good texting integration, like CarPlay does... It seems I have no reason to data link to car via USB cable.
You got it. I played with Entune for a few months but found no practical benefits in using it. Everything can be done through BT and the phone is more responsive than Entune.
