Can I safely preform an ECU reset?

Not sure if I understand your question.
Since this is a "new" car to me, I just wanted to reset the ECU to "start fresh"..... Maybe that is a more applicable thing for a conventional car.
Anyway, it's done. (hopefully w/ no harm)

 

i'm sure there's no harm, i just don't understand what 'start fresh' means. did you put one of those pine tree thingy's on the dash?

 

I guess in conventional ICE-type cars, one resets the ECU for various memory deletions.

For instance, the Lexus "memorizes" and adapts to how one drives. Or something to that effect. In my case, after a few months, it will feel sluggish taking off from a full stop. Darn congested city driving. So I'd pull out the fuse to reset; then for the next few blocks, accelerate like a madddd woman; stop; accelerate; stop... Engine/memory now thinks it answers to a maaad lead foot and thus will take off w/ a bit more verve.

There are articles that say cars actually have the ability to adjust to their driver's driving habits to give them the best performance and fuel efficiency. In disconnecting the battery, you reset the computer to learn your new driving habits and erase what it has already learned. A fresh start.

i do not know, 40 years of driving, and i've never noticed any such nonsense. but i've never had a lead foot. i wonder if they replaced the software in the gen II with the power button in the gen III.

sorry, no idea. why do you want to do this?

 

My car asks to steer max left than max to the right to calibrate...
I will also try a reset today to see if "never shut off ice" issue will dissapear (as everything else seems ok).
