You can only claim the tax credit in the year you purchased the vehicle new. Not being the original owner you are out of luck antway Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Not exactly the tax claim but related to it. I have claimed the PG&E rebate ($500) on my used car. I have simply applied for it. I think they would check for its rebate status based on my application and accept or reject my application. Not really sure about tax rebate though...
i doubt you can check, it would be part of the original purchasers tax returns. unlikely a vin lookup with the ins, but i can't say definitively.
I missed this one ..... I bought my 2014 used PIP May 2016 and filed for my tax credit earlier this year and received it with my tax rebate. However, I have no idea if the previous/original owner did or not.
