Just got a Samsung S8+ and it doesn't fit flush in the wireless charging pad, it's too long. Just wanted to share in case it helps others. I found that it stops charging sometimes and I have to switch it on and off again (wireless charging, not the phone) Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Small will be big enough for me. I just use it a bit for email etc while I'm away from home. I understand it makes phonecalls too. I need to work out how to use it as a music player - the car tells me that it is connected as an audio device, but no matter where I've saved MP3s, the car can't find them.
Thanks for sharing! Oh well. You won't have to deal with the efficiency losses of wirelessly charging your phone with the traction battery, which was charged with a 40% thermal efficient combustion engine, or regenerated from potential energy.
Very iffy to work with my older Motorola Nexus 6 as well. I have a ballistic case and it has a curved back. Shedding the case gets it to kind of charge but very slow. It has been my experience that wireless charging in general doesn't work all that well.
I have a Samsung Note 3, it is not native for wireless charging. But with few euros I purchased a coil to be connected in the rear side of the phone between the battery and the cover... and it works!
Wife's Note 8 has to be precisely placed else it won't charge wirelessly. Shame the designers of the Prius didn't think phones would get bigger. SM-N950U ?
My Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone fits and charges fine in my 2019 Prius XLE, even in its large Otterbox Commuter Series case.
S10+ is working fine for me even in it's case on the charging pad. Only problem is it runs a lot warmer than the other charging pads I have so I'm really only charging it when I have to.
Just tested the Galaxy S9 that my wife has and it works nicely on the pad and there is room to spare. In about two weeks I will be getting a iPhone XR from work and I will see how that works. It has the added problem of a Otterbox case which increases the distance from the pad to the coils in the phone. My car is a Corolla though, I will measure the pad tomorrow and post the measurements here to see if there is a difference in the sizes of the pads between the Prius and the Corolla.
