How do you make the navigation system start navigating? According to the manual when you put in a destination you're supposed to get a screen that has a start/enter button, bu i just get a map picture of the location with arrows all around it and they turn grey when you start to drive the car. What am I doing wrong? thanks

Either there is an 'Enter Destination' button, or else you have 'Add Destination' or 'Replace Destination' (if there is already a destination set). I believe there is another screen after that displaying up to three route choices if there is more than one route available. Press the 'Guide' button (or just start driving) to being turn by turn navigation. That is based on memory, after using the nav for only 2 months, so hopefully I haven't overlooked anything... - Kevin
I'm referring to the screen where you have the add/ replace destination--- so what do you do? Also, when I press the quick access buttons and the same thing happens.
Go to the Lexus site. www.lexus.com. There is a tutorial on the navigation system, which is basically the same as the one on the Prius. It doesn't cover all the bells and whistles but walks through the general operation of the navigation system. Your navigation handbook covers it very well too, but is a bit hard to plow through. The Lexus site is the best tutorial to get up and running. The arrows around the destination is only pointing towards where you said you want to go. If you do not select it, it will grey out as no destination has been selected at that point. Touch the screen on the proper command and it will return to where you are located and begin navigating you.

If needed, use the arrows to fine-tune your destination on the map, then press the ENTER button to establish it as the destination. If you've already got a destination, the ENTER turns into ADD TO (add to existing destination list) or REPLACE (delete current destination and use this one instead). You're almost there! David
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hybrid_batmobile @ Jul 11 2006, 09:29 PM) </div> If you select 'Replace Destination', then any previous destinations will be discarded and this will be your new destination. Essentially, when you are starting a new trip. If you choose 'Add Destination', you are adding an additional stop to your trip. You can program up to 5 total destinations (also known as "waypoints" in the GPS world) for a trip. Note that if you are in motion and programming a destination (by Quick Access, voice, etc...) you can only assign the next immediate stopover, not future stopovers (they will be greyed-out). One other tip if you are new to nav - the instructions and route guidance read from the bottom up (not top down), which I found a bit unintuitive when I first began using it, but quickly adapted once I figured out that simple detail. Hope that helps! - Kevin

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hybrid_batmobile @ Jul 11 2006, 08:11 PM) </div> I hope hybrid_batmobile will let us know if the answers to this question have made it any easier to use Nav. I too have had trouble getting it started but somehow I muddled through eventually. I now use it only rarely and still sometimes find myself unsure about the next step and have to start inputting my destination again and again. Are all nav systems as bad as this one in their interface with the user? I'm using the 2005 Europe version and am hoping that the next version (2006?) will be an improvement but I'm not optimistic about it.
So when I press a preprogrammed way point/ enter a location and i see the destination with arrows around it, i press add to and it will navigate?

Then I have a choice....3 Routes, Route, and Guide. 3 Routes gives me a choice, Route allows me to add (or delete) and Guide starts the navigation.
