i live in a mountain community. With my old Prius I had to shift into B on the downhills. On my Prime, I can take some downhills with the brake pedal keeping the regeneration graph at 50-75%. If I’m using the brake pedal but not getting maximum regeneration are the brakes applied any? Don’t want to burn them out on the long downhills but want to get maximum regeneration.
Yes your brake pads can be used depending on your speed and how much braking you are requesting even if the regeneration portion of the bar isn’t completely filled. It is hard to judge when friction brakes are being applied as they made it more seamless, but there should be slightly more regenerative braking power than the gen 2. Also if you are in ev mode and switch to b, it will only use regenerative braking depending on your state of charge.
What setting is used on the ScanGauge to make that determination? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The reason why I asked is because I looked and I did not see any gauge that existed for that feature Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
There is a friction brake sensor for the gen3. Only way to know if it works for the gen4 is to test it. » TOYOTA – LEXUS – SCION
