Where did I run to the defense of anyone? I simply stated that the facts boiled out to where the guy didn't do anything illegal, and I also stated that I hoped the guy cracks them with a big lawsuit for the defamation that was brought because some idiot was so eager to leak this thing to the media before the 'detaining' agencies could get a chance to say... Whoops, 'bad detention, no infraction'.

I hope he decides to sue and I hope he wins... As much as I dislike someone such as Sean Penn, if it were him being harassed and defamed by these idiots, I'd hope he sues and wins.

It is different if it were you or I 'detained' for the same offense. First of all, no idiot would be chomping the bit to 'leak' this to the media because the media doesn't know who you or I are. They wouldn't care, and there would be no defamation involved. Secondly, it would be highly unlikely that you or I would be detained for that same bottle of viagra. If we were, someone would call the doctor and find out it's ok and that would be the end of it.

The reason I hope he sues and wins is because there are a lot of people out there saying a lot of really big stuff and not being held accountable for it. Papers that commit treason under the guidelines of journalism should taste the fruits of prosecution for treason. If it's not treason then they should not. Be careful with your first amendment rights. Just because you have a big mouth and a 1st amendment, doesn't mean that you have no consequences for what you say.

If I stand outside McDonalds and yak and yell about the rats and roaches in the kitchen, it's my first amendment right to talk away. It's also their right to sue me for loss of reputation and revenue. If I get to court and have no evidence for the things I was saying with my big mouth then hopefully McDonalds wins a compensatory judgement against me.

In the same way, until it was confirmed that Rush did something wrong with those pills, no one had the right to yak about it to the media, the media had no right to publish, etc.. They did, and I believe he should sue for loss of reputation and the revenue he will lose because of loss of reputation (he makes every $$ based on reputation). Why did they just spout a lie about illegal viagra? Why didn't they make up some other things and tell the newspaper he was drunk and wearing ladies underwear?

They were over eager to hurt his fame and reputation, so they spoke out of turn. I hope he stuffs it back on them like a mountain landslide takes out a village below.

I don't listen to Rush... I might if I could get the condensed commercial free version... 8 minutes of commercials coming on every 12 minutes is more than I can handle no matter what the content.
