One of the first things I noticed about my Prime (versus my 2nd Gen Prius) is how hot the dash gets. Sure, the AC works great, but on a hot day I can really feel the heat from all that black plastic. And I don't always want to use AC. I've never purchased a "dashboard cover" before. They look like a cheap, thin carpet. But I'm wondering if they help prevent the heat build up? Anyone have success with one on the Prime? Care to share the vendor/link? Thanks! (Apologies in advance if this has already been discussed. I searched the "Prime Accessories and Modifications" and "Prime Main Forum" forums.)
These make a HUGE difference. I love mine. Sunshade HeatShield for Toyota Prius Prime - Front - PriusChat Shop But a dash carpet would also help. Maybe not as much as the shade, though.
True dat!! But probably no more so than the texters who surround me every day. People here don't usually look up till they hear the big bang anyway.
I have a sun-shield for the front and also one for the rear and they work beautifully. Definitely to be recommended!
NO !! Once the sunlight (infrared) gets into the car, it is going to heat up SOMETHING. The reflective covers installed as close to the glass as possible help some.
You'd have to cut out an opening for where the HUD projects onto the windscreen. I second the suggestion of the foil widow shades - front and rear since the rear hatch window makes a great solar heat collector right over the battery.
Do they make a rear hatch sun shade for 2020 PP XLE's? Also, I thought a dash mat helps to protect the dash from drying and cracking over time.
Yup, lots of heat comes through the LARGE (37" tall) windshield which is probably the tallest in its class (classified as compact) and still taller than that of many other larger cars and trucks.
