I just purchased a Prime Advanced. The information here made my decision a lot easier. Is there a top ten setting changes that I should do. I am having them turn on the beeping in reverse. Any recommendations for charging stations. I see posts for Juicebox, Clipper Creek and Chargepoint. What are the pros and cons of each unit? Any others?
Congratulations!! I'll let the Prime drivers answer the tech questions. But don't forget to update your vehicle & model info. Hope you get great smileage out of your new buggy.
I don't have it yet. I will make the change to my profile once it is in the stable. I noticed the constant beeping in reverse during the test drive. They were able to set my 2012 to beep only once when placed in reverse. So I suspect this is the same.
at my age, i need all the beeping reminders i can get. i wish the blinkers and gas gauge were that loud.
What really helped me learn about the settings really quick before I picked up my Prime was to watch this video:
Yup, I set my reverse beep to one beep with my Calista App. as well as rolling all four windows down by pushing my door open button on my fob
It was a month before I realized the beeping was not the radio. It was becoming my favorite song. Words were easy to remember. Had a nice beat...or beep.
I had the dealer set my reverse beep to 1. Next I listened to the startup and shutdown animation music once and then went into settings and muted it.
I like the Chargepoint the best. It's wifi connected displays all the stats in the app. Since most of the public charging stations around here are Chargepoint I get a pretty accurate picture of how much I've charged at home and in public in one place. I had to do a hardwired install outside since I don't have a garage and their instructions were pretty easy. The only real con is its more expensive than the other options.
Ever since the Prime came out late last year I've heard people saying the first change must be to the reverse beep. I've had my Advanced for 8 months now and the reverse beeps have never annoyed me. I'd swear you people are driving all the way to work in reverse!! I'm in reverse for about 0.00001% of my driving -- maybe I've been doing it wrong...
I agreed with you until recently when I almost didn't notice the cross traffic alert because of the backup beep. I think with the cacophony of sounds, I'm going beep blind. So I too intend to request the change at my first maintenance visit.
LOL! We are the opposite. My wife doesn't mind at all. Hers is still on on her '07. I turned mine off IMMEDIATELY when I got it home.
