Sooo, I learned that the rattling noise that I hear often when I release the brake pedal is because the brake actuator located underneath the DC/DC Inverter is on its way to dying off. If you check out on Youtube: Prius brake actuator noise If you hear this familiar noise from your prius, take it to TOYOTA DEALERSHIP immediately!!!!! The extended service warranty on this $3000.00 repair will end December 2017!!!!! I have 320,000 miles on my prius and they are fixing it as we speak! Please get your Prius checked!!!!!!!!! Good to see 320K in great condition. Are you original owner of 320K Prius? What's history on your Prius? Which Toyota dealership? Toy of Renton or Bellevue?
Bought it from Toyota of Lake City January 6th 2014 with 97300 miles on it. As far as I know I believe I am the second owner the vehicle was in a minor fender-bender before I bought it but it was already fixed and looks good to me period Toyota Lake City said they wouldn't sell a vehicle that had the airbags deploy. Yes! I know I probably get hated on by some Volkswagen owners but I couldn't help myself because I thought it would just make my Prius look good Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You gotta tell us where do you drive to put these many mileage in three years? I know I5 and I405 not fast enough to put these many miles.. Are you driving between Wenatchee or Spokane weekly or something?
I used to drive from Burien to Tacoma to brenerton, silverdale, shelton, Tumwater and back at least three times a week in the morning and then two routes in the afternoon from renton to bellevue, Issaquah, North Bend and sammamish. And on Saturdays from renton to redmond, kirkland, Bothell, kenmore, mill creek, Snohomish, everett, Marysville and rarely to anacortes or oak harbor Now I go from renton Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Now I'm just doing two routes in the afternoon from renton to bellevue, Issaquah, North Bend and sammamish. Navigating around the neighborhoods, I think, is where most my mileage comes from. Trying to avoid traffic jams and hitting the back roads mostly if I can help it. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Got It! That explains it. I love driving through hilly streets in Bellevue, NewCastle and Renton area. I would think I90 and part of I405 are not small car friendly as roads needs repairs. Also Puget Sounds weather is car friendly as it's less wear and tear in vehicle except for few days of snow once every few years.
Ajourney101, I have found several brake actuator sound videos but that have different sounds. Can you please explain yours a little better, or link the video that has the specific sound you were experiencing that led to a recall? Also, how often did the sound occure? I have a 09 that is new to me and it makes actuator sounds that seem suspect to me. Thanks do much for any more info you can provide!
I see you've successfully been able to have the brake actuator warranty extension campaign done (ZG1). What symptoms did you have? The lights come on intermittently on my dash but the dealer says there are no relevant cores stored.. This has been frustrating because the lights have come on multiple times, there must be some ABS/braking system codes stored, but dealer is saying none - only coolant valve code.. Thoughts? And thanks
