    Hi all,

Ever since I've owned my 2011 Prius mode III second hand from CarMax, the locking/unlocking of my doors have been one way; that is, whenever I get close to my car to unlock manually by touching the handle, it ONLY unlocked the driver door, nothing else. But, now, it seems to unlock all my doors, (4 doors and hatchback). Usually, after unlocking my driver side door by touch, I have to press the unlock button on my driver side door to unlock all doors. Or, if I were to do it through my remote, I would have to press the unlock button on the remote twice to unlock ALL doors.

I, also noticed that at times, it the sensitivity of the touch on my driver side door seems to have waned. In other words, I would have to either press down on the area "harder" or longer. Not only that, the door at times doesn't seem to respond quickly when using the remote. I would have to press the remote several times to get it to work properly; yes, this could be a battery issue with the remote but that doesn't explain why it doesn't seem to work "quickly" when I attempt to lock it and walk away from the car by touch.

I'm hoping this is a setting option issue with my car and not some failing electrical/electronic issue.
    I would appreciate any insight.
    Thanks!

The first is a setting you can adjust using the touch tracer controls on your steering wheel.

The second is the whim of touch technology. Imagine how well your phone works when wet or dirty or when it's extremely cold. Also while a quick touch by me will lock the door, the mechanism will ignore my wife as if she were dead. She needs to do the pinch move by touching the bottom and top of the handle. I have to do the pinch only in cold or raining weather. I've also noticed now that I have a phone capable of wireless charging, the handle is less sensitive. For example, with both key fob and phone in my pocket, if the key fob is sandwiched between me and the phone, I literally, have to move my pocket closer to the door. If the key fob was on the outside with the phone sandwiched, then no problem. This didn't happen with my iPhone 6. I'm assuming this is because the two wireless technologies are interfering with each other. But I'm just some guy on the internet., so take that with a grain of salt.

On a side note, DW also claims the dishwasher which also activates by touch controls thinks she isn't human... that's why I have to do the dishes.o_O Always.

You need to have the navigation system to access the correct menu. Otherwise, the dealer or an OBD device will be needed. It is on page 593 of my digital owners manual.

The default setting is that when you touch the driver door it only unlocks the drivers door. I've learned that if I want to open all the doors I go to the rear hatch, or the passenger door first.
Also I keep my key in the small pocket of my jeans. My wife keeps hers in her purse. The problem is that her purse can often be further away from the door and many things may be shielding the key signal, however my waist is very close to the height of the door. I find it's an excellent excuse to go around and open the door for her.

Press hold both unlock and lock button for at least 3 second s on remote. Locking will revert back.

Thank you all for chiming in. Pressing the lock/unlock buttons on my remote at the same time for a couple seconds worked as stated by a couple folks here. I hated the thought of having my car serviced at CarMax although I have an extended warranty as they left a "popping" noise in my driver side door after replacing a faulty master switch for the window rollup/downs.
Again, thanks for all that chimed in. Hope I can pay it forward someday.

idk why it would change on its own, might be worth checking the 12 volt health.
