Definitely helps FE. The sweet spots are in the spring and in the fall. No AC, or lighter AC, and better gas. The heavier the load on the AC compressor, the worse the FE. The winter gas blend kills my FE. I'm expecting to reach mpg highs in October and beyond, until the dreaded winter blend arrives. I don't know exactly when the winter blend arrives, but my gas tank will let me know.

I try and drive conservatively. IE accelerate slowly, slow down gradually. I use cruise as much as possible on the highway and use ac and heat as needed but within reason. Other than that I haven't tried pulse and glide or anything. I do seem to get a bit better without cruise, but it's just not worth it.

I'm going to run it with for about a month, then I'll try and run about a month without. See if it went up, and if it comes back down. I normally fill up exclusively at the BP where I get on and off the highway, so the gas is quality and it will stay consistent.

Harry, I probably mentioned this already, but if you are in a position to take a 30-60 mile highway trip where there is light traffic and you can use your cruise control the entire way, I hope you can measure it using your tripometer and check your mpg on that round trip. If you can keep your speed at 70 or below, you should average over 50 mpg on that trip, especially if the AC is being used lightly.

If you're still in the mid 40's, then there's another factor in play.

I'm hoping that changing the plugs and cleaning the egr and stuff will help. I feel like there has to be something wrong.

I may get back to this later, but I have to much going on right now. We are in the middle of moving and it looks like I'll have to find a new job as well. Sorry.

I will say that dropping my speed to 60-70 has moved me up to the 50 MPG mark!

Nice, Harry. Let us know when you average 50 mpg for an entire tank. This is the best time for fuel economy. Less to no AC needed, and before the dreaded winter blend gas.

I remember Harry is using some non LRR tires, that maybe one of the reason not getting 50mpg? And then if condition is right, keep your speed steady at 62 mph instead of 70 helps too. I am in constant traffic that my average speed is 25-27 displayed, gas mileage would display 53-56mpg, calculating to 50-53mpg on the tank.

OK everyone. Explanation time. Sorry for the end of this, for now anyway, but my job situation is changing and I'm having to scramble. Essentially our division in the company was sold and we all have to find new jobs. After just moving here for the job in December, that's not a really good situation to be in. This just kind of dropped off of the importance radar. I'll try and get back to it after the dust settles.

Thanks. Everything will be fine. I get 90 days to find a job in another division and if not I get a severance. I'm sure I'll find something.
