Just today ordered a Prius Prime Premium from Dunning Toyota in Ann Arbor, MI. Was told 6-8 weeks from one sales person and 2-4 months from another. If it is much over 8 weeks there will be angst, gnashing of teeth and hair-pulling. Should I plan visit to CO to chill?
why don't you make the trip to the great state of Maine? From other posts here they have huge discounts on the Prime and since it's on the east coast there's probably a good chance you'll find one that suits you
In your shoes, I'd be visiting the Northeast and getting a heck of a deal, where I could buy an Advanced for less than a Plus purchased elsewhere!! And I wouldn't have to wait!! .
thanks for guidance here. I would be totally open to traveling to northeast and driving one home. how do i look for prius prime in NE?

love it when I miss the obvious. Thanks! actively searching web. any dealers to focus on or just call the ones with most stock I suppose.
Select an airport that you can easily get a low-cost ticket. For example, one serviced by SouthWest Airlines or a busy hub, and get the zip code. Use the zip code with any of several car locating web pages to search for a New, Prius Prius within 200-500 miles. Pick 2-3 cars that match your price-performance range. Call them and ask to speak to the salesman who handles Internet or Out-of-State sales. Verify the car is still available; get the equipment list with VIN faxed or e-mailed; ask what they need to hold the car; what they can do for an out-of-state sale, and; if they will pick you up at airport, and; promise to call back. Decide which one and price a cheap ticket. Call the dealer and leave the deposit for the car and the others with your thanks. Buy the ticket, earliest practical flight. I recommend getting a room at a near-by hotel since many of them also have shuttle service to the airport ... in case the dealer won't pick you up. I checked the bus schedule and road to the dealer. The hotel room means a good night sleep before hitting the road and some area, test drives. Arrange for financing and have your banker talk with the dealer salesman or finance officer. Enjoy! I just bought one from Berlin Auto Group. Here is the awesome sales person I delt with. Dominick Bernard Sales Associate [email protected] Toll Free: (866) 698-3477 Direct: (207) 618-6479 Main: (207) 321-3477 Fax: (303) 928-6826
Exotic Car Transport of Orlando is good, enclosed will run you about 1k-1500 depending on where you live.
Thanks for the recommendation. After some thinking, we decided to drive the car back to Indiana. We will make a road trip out of this, which we actually enjoy doing.
I ended up with Prestige Toyota in Ramsey NJ. Prius Prime Premium. $3500 incentive, 0.9% financing 60 months. Add the tax credit and its a great deal. Thanks all for pointing me to this option. Beers on me if you come by Ann Arbor. Flying out on Tuesday am, do the paperwork and then will drive it home 9 hrs. Fingers crossed. Curious--why is it some dealers have stock and others say you need to order from factory? Why dont they order from factory? Are they not feeling the customer pressure yet or is there some system that controls what dealerships get the cars first?
It is the great Prime mystery. My dealership had one but shipped it off to another dealer. Demand is not there for the Prime but Toyota did a terrible job of promoting it.
That wasn't a priority for year-1. Remember, focus was on production & penetration. Delivering a new model with the waved-glass and carbon-fiber into 3 major markets was a major undertaking for just 12 months.
You may want to double check. The $3,500 rebate doesn't mix with the 0.9% financing. It's one or the other.
Item #1: I've been a ba-a-a-a-ad boy... sorry for not having been around for so long (11 days or so)! Item #2: Now, I *really* have to change my signature, 'cause... Item #3: ...we *finally* took delivery of our Prime / Premium last Friday, the 25th! So, for us, it was *just* less than four months from the time we placed our "special order" (the 1st of May) until we could claim "bona fide" ownership. NOW, then... let me see if I can (yet again) remember how to include photos here........ [YAY... I do!] PS: Our '08 trade-in (seen in 3 of the pics) was on the dealership's lot only four days before until it was sold.
I am a Michigander doing the same as you Tuesday, but going to Crestmont Toyota in New Jersey. However, I was told you can't have both the $3,500 rebate and .9% financing. I decided the rebate is worth more. If you are right, that is a great deal. The financing still isn't too bad, 3.5%. Maybe we will be at the airport at the same time.
LOL, why was I not surprised by your vehicle tag . . . I feel closer to mine now that you have yours although I've still heard nothing on mine yet. June 30 order. Testing my patience.
NOW I'm waiting for all the paperwork so I can get the NEW personalized plate for the Prime... ...which will ALSO be LOTR-related. Anybody care to take any guesses as to what the NEW plate will "say"?
