My nephew is hopefully buying my 2012 Camry XLE Hybrid in the next week or two and I am looking into a Prius Prime (Advanced?).

I drive about 80 miles a day round trip for work and think the Prime could be "fun" :)

Any dealer/salesperson recommendations? I get my vehicle serviced at Atlantic Toyota in Amityville and have been happy with the work.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you so much!

    Joe

I'm trying to read while at work so I need to catch up. I appreciate everyone's input. Lots of valuable info here. Everyone I talk to who owns any kind of Prius absolutely loves it. Coworkers friends have in excess of 200K miles on their Prius'. Wow! Unbelievable.

all the best in your search! keep in mind, prime has less hatch space and 4 seats. you get a lot of compensation though.(y)

i just remembered, @JMalmsteen might have some long island experiences.

I got my Prime through the Costco auto buying program. They referred me to Sunrise Toyota. Picked up my Prime for list price IIRC. Overall, I had a good buying experience. If you don't have a Costco membership, it may be worthwhile to get one.

Good luck have fun with the test drive... you may want to ask them to charge up the car first.

BTW. I have posted a portion of my sales receipt on the pricing thread.

Costco is a great way to save money buying a car. They have the estimated MSRP savings on their website. In my area Costco has the Prime $2200 below MSRP.

Rhode Island! The traffic is rough and we ended up staying overnight though since we couldn't get to the dealer before they closed. Langway closes early on Friday, I think at 7 pm. We left LI at around 12 or 1 and didn't make it in time. We ended up staying at the Marriott (Fairfield) and going to Mohegan Sun. If you want to do it in a day, you need to leave early in the morning or possibly take the Orient Point ferry to avoid some of the traffic on 95. If you stay at a hotel, you are looking at $200 near the casinos or $300+ in Newport.

The LI dealers couldn't come anywhere close to the MA or RI dealer prices.

I love Toyota vehicles but this Nissan Leaf deal may be too good to pass.

    $10,000 Off A 2017 Leaf IF..... | PriusChat

I already bought a Prime this year. But, if I can double dip on the Federal Tax Credit and the New York State Drive Clean Rebate, I would pick this up too.

Update - I check and didn't find any limitation with claiming another set of Federal Tax Credit and the New York State Drive Clean Rebate. The Federal Tax Credit is limited to ones tax liability.

    A quick update:

My nephew ended up not buying my XLE hybrid. Argh, he can be a little stubborn but got a deal on a Chevy Malibu. I can't blame him.

My Camry is wonderful but you know how it goes when you want something new/different. So I'm torn with staying put for another year or paying off the balance on my Camry and getting something else. My heart says one thing, my head says hang on a while.

I have to say all of you guys and ladies are awesome here. Thank you so much for your help and opinions.

I still would appreciate dealer stories and recommendations. Not sure if a Prime or regular Prius is in my near future but everyone I know who either has one or knows someone with one or more is ecstatic with Prius reliability.

I've always been partial to Toyota and the community here is wonderful.

    :)

Not a Prime, but a regular Prius several months ago. It was great but I do feel a little roomier in my Camry hybrid. I'll need to test one again but I'm sure it'll be fine.

I am looking for a hatchback or similar for a little better cargo carrying so that may actually rule out the Prime once I take a look. The V is a possibility too.

80 miles a day is a lot. you better rent one first, many here complain about prius seats. camry is pure luxury in comparison.

Traffic is not usually a problem but get a little more on the way in to work. My schedule is 4pm-12am and it's a reverse commute. Ironically I find a little traffic seems to help the mpg readout show better numbers.

The new Camry is coming and I love what I'm seeing. I was hoping not to spend as much money and maybe gain a little more fuel economy. Time is on my side now.

    I agree.
With an 80 mile per day commute go check the seats out thoroughly. -Like a rental and long road trip.
I never had any problem with the seats, but it seems kind of binary, either Prius seats work for you, or they don't. If they don't? It could zap the "fun" out of ownership pretty quickly.

Remember that the V was designed in 2012 and the current Prius in 2016 or 2017 for the Prime. It's a much older cheaper design in the V. Take a look at the RAV4 Hybrid too for the cargo room. The only space in the Prius where I'm cramped is when I enter the car I have to duck my knees under the steering wheel. A solution could be to put the steering wheel up more but that's where I like it.

I'm usually pretty tolerant of seating, it's the hip room that I want a little extra for that free feeling. I did notice feeling a little "locked in" the Prius during the test drive. I usually drive 19-20K per year so comfort is very important.

Great point about the V, a coworker bought one and she loves it but she a little smaller than me and I do prefer the latest in technology and performance.

I know this is a Prius thread, but the new Camry hybrid looks amazing too. Final numbers are not out yet but mpg approaches 50. Pretty nice for a roomy sedan. But, that does not satisfy the cargo carrying. Sad face.

I don't know what the issue is with the Prius seats. I feel like this thing is like a rolling couch. The seats are huge in comparison to our 2007 Prius, or at least they feel that way. They are the most "generously" sized seats I have experienced and I feel like they swallow me they are so big. With the Advanced, it has the power option and you can put the seat in all kinds of variations.

I think this car was built to accommodate the expanding US population size, so either the seat will feel comfortable or way too roomy.

    Duplicate.

What are the complaints about the seats?
