We just got the Prime and have 1300 miles on it. I commuted with it twice to work so far, and have gotten over 70 mpg with no charge. With 5 miles of charge, I got over 88 mpg while traveling 60 miles one way. Our other Prius barely gets 50 mpg with the same commute under ideal conditions and typically averages 44 mpg. This car has been fully exceeding my expectations. What have you been getting without charging the Prime?
Hah! The auto correct is pretty intense on my phone. I have to go back and edit every post Hey, I almost got to 70 mph!
Nope, I make the people crazy behind me in NY only driving 64 mph in a 55 mph zone. They must drive close to 80 mph. I'm not a fan of driving over 70 mph. By accident, I went to pass a car while in my WRX, looked down, and was going 93 mph, which was definitely not my intention, but that car moves!
A long time ago, I adopted the practice of capitalize MPG and lower case mph. It has often been a great bar-posting, fat thumb saver. But addressing your original question: Prius Prime Plus in my hands | Page 23 | PriusChat Bob Wilson
I get around 70 mpg on gasoline on my routes. sometimes much better. not sure why it has a lower epa rating
"not sure why it has a lower epa rating" It all depends on how much the battery is able to take a charge and return that to the car. The EPA testing is a specific routine. Yesterday I got 80 MPG after the original charge was depleted due to the hills on the route and the speed traffic was going. It'll vary every route and every day.
I have a lead foot but practice good png techniques and you shouldn’t see anything less than 55mpg with low 60s being the norm.
Agreed. I drove 104 miles home from the dealership. The first few miles were EV getting through town but then switched over to HV for the long drive. Averaged just under 79 mpg. Mind you, this was my first time in the car, which means I didn't know it and it didn't know me. I wasn't really paying attention and was mostly playing with the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and audio stuff. So to think that I could get almost 80 mpg "out of the box" and without much effort blew me away.
