Rear wheel houses on the trailing edge have little wind diffusers to reduce wing drag around the rear wheels.

We have the only car sold in North America with express down AND Up window regulators on all four doors. All other manufacturers lawyers are scared to install these regulators in the rear because kids might try to decapitate themselves..

We are paying all those taxes to schools to teach. Common sense should be a part of that. More money has been equated with better education but that is not the result.

What? Plenty of luxury cars have express up/down windows. (and they have "pinch protection")

Check Cadillac and Lincoln. Nope. Recent BMWs followed this trend. A few cars have express down. But I challenge you to find express up regulators in the rear. It is another cost saving measure the OEMs sneak away with to avoid added cost.

    Is that enough?

I've only come across the ATS which had exactly as you described - one-touch front windows and only express down in the rear. But that was one vehicle out of the all the ones I've searched (above).

Thank you for setting me straight on this. But you still have to admit, these cars cost double or even triple the price of a Prius to get this feature. GM is very risk adverse that they will not install these regulators on any car due to liabilities in the states.

True story - when I purchased my 2008 Saturn Astra, it was a Federalized Opel Astra directly transported over from Europe. The few items GM took out from the car to sell it here, Panoramic view roof, and programming for the express windows. Yes, we sold the car in the states with the regulators, but locked the programming so you could not change the rear window feature. Crazy, but as we'd all soon find out, the lawyers and bean counters rule at GM.

Oh yes they're much more expensive cars. I still agree with you that the Prius is a unique in that it's a rare vehicle in this class with one-touch power windows for all windows.

It's an interesting game of features, cost, liabilities and regulations that the manufactures have to endure. I didn't realize the Astra was missing a few features in its trip over to the States. A pity. I like the Astra (I like the Omega/Catera too but for some reason it wasn't well liked by auto journalists).

Could be worse. Some lower Euro-spec cars had power front windows and manual wind rear windows lol. Don't know if they still do them now but it wasn't too long ago last I checked. Now that is counting pennies!

Yup, we do that a lot over here. Some call it penny pinching tho! :sneaky:

Just in case, 'pinching' = stealing in UK slang.

Thanks to Top Gear and Fifth Gear, I learned a lot about U.K. spec cars. Mostly how the lower trim of any model is sparsely equipped.

That's right. Here on treasure island most brands use attractive features as extras, or worse; part of packages bundle with faff you won't be interested in. Coupled with the pimping desire of some, manufacturers (and dealers) have ways of emitting your wallet. :ROFLMAO:

    Edit: Emptying your wallet.

TCI has done both (extras and worse). Once, power windows were packaged with a power moonroof and cruise control on a Corolla S (sport model). Practically all we're ordered that way.

Typically packages increase in features, usually building on the previous package (not always but usually). Once on a Yaris sedan, all packages added A/C except the "Touring" package which was the most expensive (so people assumed it had everything). This wasn't entirely Toyota's fault (people should read the list of items in the option package) but Toyota could've been clearer (which they did, presumably after many complaints. The website and brochure eventually added "Delete A/C").

For the most part, Toyota has packaged the options well.

Over here, I'd say it's gotten better. We don't get charged for metallic paint on certain Japanese manufacturers (back to just the Germans) and basic items are standard (no more option USB/iPod or cruise control on the Germans while it's standard on a super-mini). Though they still charge you an arm and a leg for proximity entry or adaptive cruise control.

When we got our 2000 Tundra, Toyota packaged ABS and DRL (Daytime Running Lights) together. On a forum, somebody asked how to disable DRL and the answer from one guy was to remove ABS. :D

Metallic paint is usually at least £500 extra over here, often more.
