We'll it's time for me to start oil changes following Toyota Care. What ramps are you guys buying and are there any issues. My old ramps do not fit. Thanks.
My son's ramps did not work for me. We had a dry drainage ditch near our house. I straddled it with the Prius enough to get underneath and change the oil.
I plan on making a set of wood ramps similar to the ones in the link below. Much more practical for keeping the car level although storage may pose an issue. Wood Ramps
Why not use long 2x6s place on the ramps to decrease the approach angle? One on the ramp, use as normally?
Build your own. Most ramps you can buy are too "steep", that is they hit the car before the wheel is lifted enough. I use two 2X12 boards each about 4 ft long, with a 2x4 screwed to the end as a "wheel stop" (so I don't drive off the end). The high end is placed on a screwed together block of 4x4 and 2x6 pieces. This allows me to get the car high enough to open the oil change "door" on the undertray. They store nicely standing up in a corner. The only caveat is you have to use the "P" brake and a wheel chock because the car is sitting on a steep surface, but I haven't had a problem with this so far.
Late to the party, but for those searching, the Harbor Freight plastic ramps work, and seem to be far more solid than the sectioned, seemingly dangerous RhinoGear ramps. With nearly new tires had about 1/2 inch clearance from the front plastic to the ramp to hit the ramp. Very easy. These: 13,000 Lb. Portable Vehicle Ramp Set are seemingly the same as this other brand on Amazon
They look really solid. I saw them, but could not judge if they were shallow enough of a rise for Gen4's. But, also, considering changing the oil is about once a year, I wasn't looking to spend that much.
