Hi all, I found this part that tuck underneath the front passenger seat, I did went to dealer earlier and ask them what is that but so far no one knows the answer. Just wondering is there anyone in here know what is it for.
Neither the part number (G93C1-47010) nor the model number (G9507) on the label is listed in Toyota’s Electronic Parts Catalog, so I expect it’s a uniquely Canadian part. The “-47010” suffix is typical of parts first used on a fourth-generation Prius, and the UL Recognized Component for Canada listing card says it was made for Toyota by a division of Mitsumi Electric. I’m not aware of any sources of 120 volts AC on a Prius, and the warning notices on the label mention “connect to properly grounded outlets only” and “keep extension cord connection dry and off the ground,” so I expect the input is meant to come from a wall outlet, either directly to this AC adapter or perhaps to some other point on the car. If the AC adapter is fixed in place and wasn’t just left under the seat, perhaps it’s for pre-heating the seats; the output (4.64 A at 8.1 V DC) is only about 38 watts, which isn’t much heating. Since the dealer was no help, you might try contacting Toyota Canada directly; they should be able to give you a definitive answer.
I think thats the same as I have under my passenger seat (RHD) and I seem to remember its the amp for the JBL stereo. Not 100% on this though EDIT: I have just read it mentions heater
Since somebody mentioned a power supply perhaps it is for a traction battery heater? Most of Canada is colder than most of the US Perhaps it is port installed.
Yes that A/C adapter is fixed in place under the front passenger seat. Also, I did found a standard wall plug in the engine compartment, but I didn't order any block heater for my Prius. I did ask the sales lady did my Prius come with block heater standard and she said it shouldn't be. The sales lady that sold me the Prius said it might be for the seat heater, but I told her how come the basic version (but with heated seat, Canadian market have heated seat standard) that on the showroom didn't have it and she said she have no idea then. I was think about the same thing too. So far I see my Prius and the one I rejected have that a/c adaptor. But the basic version didn't have that. Wondering is it just for lithium battery only... I will try to find out later today from Toyota Canada thru FB since I always got answered thru this way.
My Prius is a technology grade with advanced package. The only other option I have is factory remote starter. Still waiting response from Toyota Canada.
Finally got reply from Toyota Canada, they said it's a battery warmer. I ask them is it only for lithium battery model and is it include block heather feature too and they just said this battery warmer is for your specific model only......
@Tideland Prius has something else to add to the Canadian features, apparently. I wonder where the connecting power cord runs. Hopefully, not through the active grille shutters
Hopefully they take that into account and run it through the upper grille rather than the air dam (where mine is on the Gen 3)
I was thinking of that poor Alaska Gen 4 user whose EBH cord was run through the grille and the cord was later blamed on the car fire.
The cord is located here so I think should be fine. Still try to find out if it just a plain battery warmer or it did come with block heater as well.....
Hello , I work at a car dealership (not Toyota) but this is a keep charge for the battery , if a car is in the showroom we just plug it in , the part you are missing in the clips to go on the battery , also if you look at the bottom end of this cord , should have a regular 110v normal plug. This is not a battery warmer or a block heater
Are you saying this is what the dealer installs to keep the car 'live' for customer demonstrations in the showroom ?
