Hello, we have had our Prius now for 8 years and never any warning lights. A few months ago I took our Prius to our Toyota dealer for some of the 100000 mile services. They did a SDS cooling system service, a Hybrid inverter cooling system service, and a SDC Brake fluid service. A few days after the service my wife heard a few different beeps than normal when starting the car. (I can hardly hear any beeps as I lost the high side of my hearing). Anyhow from then on we watched and saw that the Brake service warning light (Circle with exclamation point and in parentheses, the ABS light and the VSC light all were on for about a second and 3 beeps then went off, there is no rhyme or reason when this will happen it may not do it for weeks and then it may do it 2 times in a row only after startup. My question is can the brake service be the cause, and no I'm not finding fault with anyone at the dealership I'm only asking if it's possible that maybe there is air somewhere or something causing this? Also I remember getting a limited warranty thing in the mail awhile ago stating that Toyota has received some complaints about warning lights due to malfunctions of the Brake Actuator assembly and they increased the warranty to the end of this year on my car, can this be the problem. I called my Toyota dealer to question them and, you guessed it, never got a call back. Thanks to all that look and answer.

I don't know what an SDC brake Service is but hope its not a brake flush. I was talking to my Automation Service advisor a while ago about a brake job and he said they and most of the Auto nations that he knew of stopped doing brake fluid flushes on the G2 as they were seeing many ABS pump failures after flushes. There probably bottoming out seals and causing leaks.

There is a TSB on the ABS unit and should be covered under warranty so this may work out very nicely for you.

I would just bring it back to the dealer and let them take a look at it.

Well guess what Ed I looked at my invoice and the SDC brake service lists at the bottom as a brake fluid system flush. Well now I know why the dealership never called me back today. I guess now tomorrow I will call and ask about what you said and see what for response I get, and yes this is a Autonation dealership

check your 12v too, they tend to run it down during service, so they can sell you a new one.

I already checked that. I was doing a lot of research here on Priuschat and the 12v can cause lots of issues so I followed some ones post about going thru the touch screen to check the battery and put it under load etc. Sounds like you dealt with autonation before. I was told I needed new brakes 3 years ago and everytime since when I go for service I ask how the brakes are and the service guy looks at me and asks why and I say your tech told me 3 years ago my brakes were bad. Still don't need brakes.
