Well at last I'm installing a warning beeper (there are just not enough beepers on this car!! Tell it to the idiot beeper-complaining reviewer whose link was posted somewhere on this forum) to alert unsuspecting Presbyterians near me of an imminent collision!!. Jin at Best Tint Auto Center is personally installing it today. It will allow me to manually activate a beeper so folks will hopefully get out of the way. I'll keep you posted on the results. Best Tint also installs window tinting, stereos, alarms, soundproofing, and other custom installations. They've worked for me for over 10 years and do excellent work. .
The Prime already has a beeper installed for this purpose. It's easy to activate too -- just press the center of the steering wheel!
Yeah, but you don't know how many old people I've nearly killed with my surprise honking!!?? I'm just trying to do my part to balance noise and safety!! .
Hey now, you've so outclassed me; I'm embarrassed!! Good idea, but I don't have the budget; maybe when the appropriations committee meets, I can persuade them of the need!! .
Ok, I'm looking out for you @HPrimeAdvanced this should do the trick. Wolo (619) Big Bad Max Air Horn - 12 Volt - Walmart.com
Yeah, but the labor to mount it is prohibitive; I mean just drilling the hole in the roof, and configuring the mounting bracket. Then you need the wind buffer assembly, not to mention providing lubrication by routing the oil line up there.....!! You'd have to hire Mr. Wilson to work out all the details, and he doesn't come cheap, ya know!! .
Yeeehaw!! I wanna see them old people dancing and jumping boy! Let's give my cardiologist more work!! Them Presbyterians is gonna sing Glory Hallelujah!! .
Don't Japanese Prius already comes with warning artificial engine sound effect? It might be required there. I wonder if wiring and such are already in ours as well.
Mr. King, after several weeks of careful listening in a quiet area, all windows open, creeping slowly forward, I was able to hear the little "warbling noise" made by my Advanced to alert nearby folks. This sound is so subdued that people outside the car said they heard nothing when I approached. My new beeper toy has successfully alerted folks in the very crowded Costco parking lot when I navigated there yesterday! Try it, you'll like it!! .
It's Wiki, but according to it, all recent models of Prius already have them... Do they? Electric vehicle warning sounds - Wikipedia Models equipped with automatically activated systems include the 2014 BMW i3 (option not available in the US), 2012 model yearToyota Camry Hybrid, 2012 Lexus CT200h, all EV versions of the Honda Fit, and all Prius family cars recently introduced in the United States, including the standard 2012 model year Prius, the Toyota Prius v, Prius c and the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid. And it supposed to become required in US by 2019.
the sound is hard to hear, most prominent for me when pulling into the garage with windows rolled down. It is customizable though, trying to attach a snapshot from the manual but having issues ... @HPrimeAdvanced could you post video or sound file?
Another project! Alright, alright! I'm going to try to record the factory "Warbler" alert sounds; doubt it will be loud enough. Then I'll demo my new Beeper Toy! Give me a little time; I'm supposed to be working here, not goofing around with my Toys! .
