as mine is due in soon and like to have it taken care of before i pick it up, the sales guy had not clue so if I can give him specifics, that would be awesome.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cars that are being sold today are way past the end of the production range for the recall. you've got nothing to worry about. anything built after early 06 is in the clear. and a noteworthy aside- if there are vehicles on a dealer lot that require a recall job to be done to them, toyota will not allow these vehicles to leave the dealer's posession without having performed the recall work first.

I had the work performed today, and made specific note (written and verbal) to check for rattles and be sure the dash was reassembled properly before releasing the vehicle. I wasn't aware that dash disassembly was required for the steering recall. Isn't the part underneath?
as I've had the dash apart twice in the 2k4 I can honestly say the design is made not to rattle. That was my first comment after taking it apart the first time, Wow no rattles. All that is apart there is the lower dash panel and the left A/C vent. Just to allow a bit of room to get in there and take it out. I'd be more worried about turning the steering wheel and breaking the Air Bag clock spring when the shaft assy is out.
