Topping off oil between intervals

    Just curious if anyone's topping off oil between their change intervals, and if so, when did you start having to do it? Since new?

    i hope not!:) typically, these engines don't start burning enough oil to top off until at least 100,000 miles, but it's always smart to check it regularly.

    I check the level regularly (every week or so). I have been adding some oil between 10 k oil change intervals since ~120 k miles. Currently at 160 k miles and going strong. Add about 20 ounces between changes.

    Keep an eye on it and add as needed(y).

    My Prius C is at 70,000 km and the oil level never budges.

    I've owned a camperized 1993 Grand Caravan since new that now needs a top-up between oil changes - that started around 160,000 km (100,000 miles).

    And just to add additional fuel to the fire:
    IF.....it never reaches the ADD mark, it is not necessary to "top it off".
