Just kinda got this idea from a previous thread. I'm going to the Toyota training center in few weeks, and figured I should use this opportunity to try and get some answers or insight into some questions we still have.
Why did the chief engineer say the car puts out 76kW in Ev mode when it actually peaks out at around 63kW and averages less than 60kW during a run from 0-60?
There's no other place for that much power (76kW - 63kW) to go in the car. And I did this run with the HVAC turned off and no headlights or DRLs.
Generous heat in temperatures well below freezing (a normal winter day in Minnesota) would present quite a demand.
It would be programmed for max load. So, you wouldn't get that extra potential even when load is low. That consistency is important.
Regardless, my whole-house 4-ton A/C system and fan together draw 4kW. There's no way the little heat pump in the Prime can come close to drawing the 13kW difference between the claim and the observation.
1. Set the default for traction battery cooler to yes 2. is there a way to download the ECO diary data (e.g. miles/kWh etc) for offline analysis?
That's because it's a single-phase induction motor directly coupled to the power grid. The heat pump in the prime is a 3-phase PM motor connected to power electronics to facilitate variable-speed operation. Zero in-rush.
Sweet! Of course, the load of the load changes quite a bit in a car. Cargo & Passengers vary to a greater degree. So, some type of buffer is still reasonable.
A different question. When AC is off and heat pump is not active (temp set lower than the ambient temperature) and fan is on, why does the car estimates EV range as though I have AC on? Energy display shows no arrow going to fan icon. As soon as I turn off the fan, EV range gose back up. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
My big one: Why was LKA removed when the Gen 3 ATP packages had it. LKA was only active with DRCC, otherwise, it was LDW w/SA, exactly what we have now. So instead of 2 technologies in the package, we now only have one. This is my greatest disappointment with this car. My little one: Why do certain settings go back to their default after we change them the next time the car is started. Example is the A/C. In the heat of So. Cal. I always turn the 'eco flow' off. There is no way to save this setting and it is the one I prefer. Why can't it just come back on the way I set it?
Can one turn off heat pump, and just use fan to circulate air? For example, PP will heat the cabin when ambient temp is lower than the temp set as one turn on the fan. It appears that the only way to avoid this is to reset the temp setting lower than the ambient temp. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I asked the instructor for the class I'm taking about the traction cooler. He thought there was a way, but he said he has to look into it. iPhone ?
