Well I made it about a month of having my new fella and I already hit a curb Now I know this might just happen again eventually (though I will definitely be more careful!) but what can I do in the mean time to cover it up? Would touch up paint cover it enough? It's the sea glass pearl color so where do I even get that color?
Personally I wouldn't bother. It's not like you have to worry about rust.... Take some abrasive cloth or sandpaper and smooth out the edge and 99.99999999999999999999-percent of the folks out there will never know the difference. 2-3 years and about a dozen ramp strikes and buggy dings and you'll not even notice yourself. However (comma!) There's this: NEW! Toyota Sea Glass Pearl Touch-Up Paint 781 from Brandsport Auto Parts (#TOY-00258-00781)
That's the easiest place to run a stroke of touch up, on a bottom edge like that. Or yeah, do nothing: it's so low and unobtrusive.
The Gen 4 Prius needs something like the Citroen DS Pallas that could raise itself up on its own suspension. It could even lift individual wheels in emergency to change a tyre on the roadside. Meh, Toyota would never do that!
Personally I wouldn't bother. By the time your car is a few years old, it'll have plenty of matching (and other) marks.
You can get matching paint at many auto parts stores. I got some at my local O'Reilly's. I had to touch up a bit of my paint in another area that went down to bare metal. But I will agree with most others here. That front end is made of plastic and it's hard to see. I'd let it go.
Be happy that Toyota designed the Prius with a ton of weird lines that hide scratches. It's barely noticeable unless someone bends down. I guess you might as well do the touch up paint because you'll buy it at some point anyway.
- live with it or - sand it down with a few different sandpaper grits and some touch up paint. there is usually more of those to come....
