hey guys, i'm hoping this is an easy one, I know this has been mentioned on the forum before and I've read a few threads but couldn't find a clear answer. cruise wont engage and blinks but I've noticed if i depress the brake pedal slightly while i'm driving and then press the cruise button it stays engaged, although i didn't notice the engine engaging into cruise. I thought it might have been a 2 step switch, containing brake light and cruise control switch depending on how much you depress the brake... I got under there with a 14mm spanner and loosened it off but still the cruise started to blink at exactly the same time as the brake lights went off. so, is it a simple matter of replacing the switch? I hope so, if so does anyone have a part number and a preferred source?? thanks in advance and happy to be on the board, I'm now a Prius Gen 2 2004 127k on the clock owner purchased for $2368USD I've fixed those damn leaks in the gutters and replaced a faulty battery module so far, for free Oh! and i'm keen to read up on the Leaf battery cell installation threads! my EV club friend is currently doing this and hopes to get 60km full EV mode. still dont understand how hes doing it but i get the impression that it'll be a seperate pack with its own charger and contactors to connect to the NiMh pack and when it gets low he'll disconnect.
ok so after calling Toyota it looks like I have 3 outstanding recalls (FREE Service) one of which is the Stop Light. thanks guys!
Techstream says P0571 brake switch "A" circuit. stop light switch 2 I forget exactly but in the Data List one of the entries doesn't change from ON to OFF but yeah thats the problem I guess. sounds like they will replace the switch behind the brake pedal due to the stop light switch recall.
