Does anyone have any experience with simple paint touch ups? I'm so mad at myself because I've had this car less than a week, and I got a little paint chip. Im usually very careful with my car, but this one just completely caught me by surprise. I had a Prius c before, so I'm not used to the trunk door opening so high. I didn't realize there was a pipe up above, and the trunk door went straight up into it causing a small paint chip.

Anyway, I called the dealership and they said they have small paint repair kits for about $13 and then I googled some others that run about $60-80. I would like it to look as close as possible without it being obvious it was touched up while still making sure the repair is sealed and will not chip any further with time. Any recommendations?
Also, it's on plastic, not metal. So no need to worry about rusting. Just worried about further damages if not treated or taken care of properly.

    Thanks!

Paint chip repair can be tricky, and it's never gonna look factory. For best results clean the chip with a little rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Next apply a very thin layer and let it dry for a couple of hours, keep applying every couple of hours until the touch up paint is level with the factory paint. Let dry for 24 hours and put a very thin coat of clear coat touch up on top. Allow to dry for several days and then apply a little wax and buff it a bit by hand. Should look pretty good when done. Hope this helps. Put some foam pading on the pipe above to prevent you or someone else from doing it again.

I should also mention that you want very little paint on the brush, otherwise you will have it spilling out onto the unchipped area. If that happens just wipe it off with paper towel, the touch up paint takes a bit to dry so you have some time to work with it if you need to. You can practice your technique on a chip on the front bumper down near the bottom. I guarantee you that you have a few small chips down there from driving.
