Dont have to wait, when I went to the dealership just to browse arround there where several Priuses on the lot they have both of my favorite color in stock(red and silver) both pkg#6 so I was able to compare them side by side got mine that same day April 2005 with no sweats. got mine in Carson Toyota in Long beach.
I bought mine of the lot, the last day of the month the dealer have to move wheels and I got an square deal. I browsed their lot by 3pm and picked-up my '04 at 10am the nex day, after having the car prep with paperwork and plates ready.
Hi All, I am extremely excited. I was just notified that my Prius (Barcelona Red with #8) will be coming in middle of July. I placed my order on April 21, at which time I was told 4 to 8 weeks. As a programmer, I consider a mere 25% sliip to be pretty good (;-) Dave H
I ordered my car last September but I ordered an 06 so I had to wait for like 4 months. I wanted to take delivery in 2006 so I got my car in the end of January. I guess that means I waited about 4 or so months...yup!
I waited nothing. The dealer had them is stock, and still does. In fact, they have a couple of unsold 2005s.
Three hours, This is my 'unusual' story ... Went to Mossy Toyota in San Diego June 14 for an oil change for the Camry and to try to have the speedometer error fixed. At 65 MPH on the speedo the car actually does 61 MPH as indicated by my Garmin Streetpilot III GPS navigator (which shows 2 other cars to be dead on). I find this error excessive. Went to retrieve the car on 15 June only to be told that even a 10 percent error was within spec and that, to be covered under the warranty, the error had to show up on the OBDC test and would light the check light. Unacceptable, it would mean that at 37K miles on the odometer (which has the same error) the car would be out of warranty with only 33,300 actual miles driven. ( I was P....d) I then drove to the adjacent building where Mossy new cars are located and was contacted by sales person Bryan. I told him I wished to purchase a 2006 Prius with package 3 provided a decent trade on the Camry was offered. Bryan had a 2006 Blue package 7 and a Red package 8, but I did not want the GPS, the Garmin is actually better than what Toyota provides. We went into the sales room and Bryan started to check on delivery dates etc, mindfull of the fact that Prius sales would soon exceed 60,000 and the tax credit would begin a phase-out about 1 July. But all future deliveries stretched well into July/August. Sudenly Brian said lets go ouside where he showed me a brand new Metallic Grey with package 3. The Buyer for this car is here Bryan said but he is giving us a hard 'negotiating' time and Brian was told that I could buy this car if we went ahead now. Wow, is this an Omen or what. Who am I to resist what must surely be a sign that this should be my Prius. About two hours and numerous pieces of paper later (and a respectable trade-in) I owned this Prius. Not my first color choice because it does absorb a lot of heat from the sun but a distinguished looking color, not to mention that this color is new for 2006 and only started shipping in May I am told. As I left the dealership Bryan told me that the original buyer had purchased a Camry instead. No doubt my offer to by this car hardened Mossy's negotiating stance with the original buyer Postcript: I had wanted to buy a Prius in May 2005, my 1986 Mitsubishi Galant (a great car BTW) was getting tired, but could not get anything but package 8, 3 was not even available in California I believe and delivery time was several months. Glad I waited, now I have a backup camera and can finally play my MP3 CD's.
Almost exactly 7 months...I was picky about the color & pkg & I didn't mind waiting because I could save up more for the downpymt.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(FishHawk @ Jun 14 2006, 02:26 PM) </div> 12 days. A dealer contacted me regarding a cancelled order. It was the color and option pack I wanted, I just lucked out...
Mine took 6 weeks. Went through 3 allocations before the dealer got "approved" for the right color/options.
5 weeks 1 day.....and 3.5 hours, but who's counting...? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(FishHawk @ Jun 14 2006, 03:26 PM) </div>
65 days. My dealer (Tansky Toyota of Dublin, Ohio) told me the wait would be 3 or 4 months. I wound up with my second color choice (Seaside Pearl was first). In reality, I was torn between Super White and Seaside Pearl for my first color choice.
i am new here...i have had my prius for about a month. i called the 4 dealerships in my area. only 1 had them on the lot, they only had 2 new ones. by the time i got there, 2 hours later, 1 was sold. i was only going to test drive one and i test drove a used one. i ended up buying mine that night, brand new, only 1 mile on it before i test drove it too (all the way home)!!!
Test drove 06HCH and 06Prius on first Saturday in December 2005. Put down the deposit on the Prius that day. Exactly what we "ordered" arrived in early February 2006, so about two months. We could have had one sooner (from different dealers and/or other packages/colors), but opted to wait it out. We weren't in a rush and were able to put over half down in cash by waiting the extra month. We insisted on waiting for the 2006 tax credit, which baffled so many dealers.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(withersea @ Jun 14 2006, 04:38 PM) </div> Picked up car yesterday. 5 weeks and 3 days.
Ordered in mid June 2005, and picked up in mid August. That's 2 months. Nowadays the waiting time in Australia is more like 4-6 months.
