I mean vent, high/low, heat, heat/defog, those modes. If I'm fogging up I want it in heat/defog. Asap.

There's a capacitive touch button for both (front and rear) on the driver's side of the display.

Page 70 of the Navigation Manual mentions a program to train the system to recognize your voice. Perhaps this system would help you get correct responses.

My 2014 4Runner TEP and our 2014 Camry Hybrid both have the voice train feature in Entune and it makes a huge difference in recognition. It just has you read 10 or 12 sentences aloud so it know how to recognize your voice.

I guess we just have different experiences and different opinions on what is safe. You could blindfold me, spin me around 3 times and in my current car, which is a 2001 Subaru Impreza, I could still adjust temp, fan speed, recirculation, vent orientation, defrost, volume, audio source, fm station presets 1-6. I made an effort to know how to do this so I can adjust these things without taking my eyes off the road. Most people are horrible at keeping proper following distance so looking away for half a second can make a difference.

Maybe things would be different with a car that has auto climate controls, I've just never driven one for any appreciable amount of time. Personally, I really like to have fine grain control over fan speed and vent orientation.

I'll let you know how the auto climate controls go when I finally get my Prime and have driven it for longer than your average test drive.

maybe it's my age, but i can't accurately hit anything on the touchscreen while driving, without anchoring my thumb to the left of it.
even then, i have to keep glancing over until my finger is on the right spot. i usually wait until the road is straight and clear before attempting.
fortunately, all the pip climate controls are manual buttons. still too small and ill placed, but a major improvement over both my gen 2 touchscreens.

I've never been able to do that in any car I've ever owned, except my 2004 Prius which could do almost everything I ever wanted to do from the steering wheel. The touch screen on the Prime is the second easiest car I've ever owned in this way.

It's an absolute necessity in my opinion to be able to move your stare from the road in front and still drive safely. If you can't do this, you can't check your mirrors and that's a major safety issue.

I agree about the Moonstone interior. My 2017 Prius 3 came with the all-black cloth and it's...really black. I got after-market leather seat covers in light gray (matching the headliner) to lighten it up a bit.

You mean you wouldn't want an internet-connected toilet? How do you know when to change your blue deodorizer cakes if you can't look it up on your phone???

I see it now . . . automatic text alerts for:
    lid left up alert
    excessive methane alert
    low flow alert
    low paper alert
    NO paper alert
    flow measurements with daily/weekly/monthly graphs

    and on and on.

( Cranky Old Man Voice )

In my day, your Climate Control Screen was huge.
Because your Climate Control Screen, was your passenger window, and you didn't even have to touch it, you just cranked it down a crack when it was too hot...and rolled it up when it was too cold. And that little spot where you like to put your Smart Phone...that use to be where the ash tray was...
Infotainment? Well, information was information and entertainment was entertainment, and the two only mixed on Sundays with a touch of gossip to make it go down better.
In the winter, the heater had two settings...Donner Party and Burnt Shoe, and you were happy to have those. Being uncomfortable on the drive,- made you happier to get home. Made you think long and hard about going anyplace you really didn't need to go in the winter, -probably saved lives.

Now we want Cleye Mate Control, with multi-colored touch screens and we get all worked up about how they are either too small or too big, And the whole thing has to connect to every other gadget we have so that we can be thoroughly connected to the "world" as we drive through it. We never took phone calls in our car, and if we got lost? We pulled over and got bad directions from a psychopath or idiot that would just get us more lost,- and we loved it. And if you had Blue Tooth? You went and saw your dentist. And we were all smarter than our dumb keys, and the only people who had keyless entry were the criminals who would break your "Climate Control Sceen" just to steal your AM radio.

Those were the good ol' days.

That was the deluxe 2 X 40 model. Two windows @ 40 mph. The Canadian version was the 2 X 64 model. 64 kph

I still rarely if ever use AC throughout the summer, just the aforementioned windows open technique. When it rains I'm all messed up though, don't know which way to turn, lol.

I always use the A/C, winter or summer, it doesn't matter, just different temperature settings. :) Too many allergies to open the window for any length of time and I like being comfortable.

Sounds like you need side window deflectors; that way you can open the window a crack and the rain won't come in.
