Do you honestly think that Toyota had their solar roof equipped Prii tested separately than the non solar roof Prii for EPA, then publish that figure? ;)

Not happening, just like they list the same EPA figures for the Prii equipped with 17 inch wheels and tires, they use the same figures for Prii with and without the solar roof.

All very valid points. I purchased the car used so the feature didn't 'cost' me much more over a regular prius. Living in Los Angeles it does make a big difference keeping the inside of the car cool. Once the car reaches 70 degrees and its sunny the fan kicks on. They interior can reach 70 even when the ambient temp is 55-60 even with tinted windows. I welcome the feature and I like the extra light and the look of it on my blizzard paint. Yes, once in the car you can hit all 4 windows down for 1 minute and then turn on the AC and it cools the car. But, everything in the car, plastic, seats, carpet, dashboard is a higher temp and your ac has to cool all those things down as well as the air. I like the sunroof and I am glad I got it.

I can't comment on how it compares to a cracked window but it is noticeably cooler in the summer. It vents the hot air out while a cracked window doesn't allow for hot air to vent effectively unless it's a windy day and you have another window opened.

In addition, you can pre-cool the car with the Remote A/C function.

My 2012 solar Prius maintenance booklet shows that the solar system filter needs to be cleaned at 40k miles. Anyone know where the filter is located and how it should be cleaned.

    Thanks!

I suspect they are talking about the "cabin air filter", which is behind the glove box. I haven't seen any other air filter on Pearl S.
