I'm sure people have discussed this ... I'm curious to know what research or information is out there about gas getting old from sitting in the fuel tank for extended periods of time due to primarily using the electric motor. Anyone read anything about this? Any discussions you can point me towards? Thanks!
Yes, time limits are built in to make the car burn the gasoline by forced running of the engine (ICE) if one drives too long in EV only. For example, my CMax Energi requires at least one tank per year be used. The gas tanks are pressure sealed more than other vehicles to help keep oxygenation low which, in part, makes fuel go bad. Between the two, the driver should have no worries about gasoline condition.
welcome! there is another thread on this, and some debate over whether the engine will exercise itself every so many miles. some owners claim thousands of ev miles without the ice firing. the o/m will tell you whether or not you have to use up the gas in the tank, and either way, you can always add fuel stabilizer.
Thanks for the responses. I couldn't find the other thread, but found a little bit more info by reading around. Thanks!
This is what I found in the on-line Owner's Manual PDF... ... https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM47A88U/pdf/OM47A88U.pdf
well, since the first Primes became available was in November we should be getting some threads about the gas around November, December lol
