Any one else getting more than 30 per charge?

50 miles one-way commute to work. 98% interstate. 50 MPH, cruise control, no A/C.
Also, I live it Florida so it's mostly flat except for overpasses.

 

I see - so if you're on a totally flat road (highway), is 50mph the "optimal" speed for the Prime to get the best MPG? I read that ~55mph is usually around the most efficient for most cars... but from what I remember, the Prius does better the lower the speed...

 

The slower the better is key and under 60 for hwy. driving is great if you don't get run over. I do 60 on the GSP and some people don't like it but oh well. I'm not getting as high as ComaJoe | PriusChat but at 50, I might. But road rage would ensue. I have some free time coming up in August and I'm going to go on a 30 mph trip around the many developments here and see what the miles look like when the battery runs out.

 

Tampa has hills? I thought Florida was flat?

 

try going under 25 MPH if you have residential neighborhoods you can travel. When I had my PIP I went about 15 MPH and EV ran out at 15 miles

 

I'll be using DRCC at 28 mph in 25 mph zone, unless there is someone behind me, then I go 31, my way of courtesy. It's weird at 31 people are fine but at 28 I get the lights and the horn.

 

I would say try 30-40mph; I've gotten some very good EV at that speed., although it has to be level road, minimal stops, no A/C. Good luck, fellow Crippled Snail!

well.......Toyota says you have a year before you need to buy gas. Me? I won't go longer than 6 months between fill ups

I got canned from Chevron, El Segundo Refinery, making $895/mo. Had new baby, scared to death. Alfa Romeo factory rep. said I should sell Alfas since I loved them so much. First month was top salesman, made $1300. Long story short, was salesman for 23 years, til I went into IT!! There's always something better around the corner, my friend !!

mostly irregular driving for me over the past month (less commuting, house hunting locally, AC usage, 5 days parks at airport with no charging ...) and my EV range is down to ~ 41 +/- ... will be interesting to see where it goes once i do regular commute again without charging at work (used all but ~ $5 on my charge point)
