My thanks to you all for your responses above. We've had some out-of-town company the last few days, so I wasn't able to reply sooner. I finally got around to responding to the e-mail from that dealership that I quoted in my earlier Post #453. In a "nut-shell", I shared your responses with the individual who wrote that e-mail, told him that I do NOT "understand" as he hoped I would, and asked him for "clarification". Frankly, I do not expect to hear from this dealership / from this "Mr. Berardi" again, but we shall see.... FOOTNOTE: The company I referred to above was my sister / brother-in-law, who just HAPPEN to be on their way to up-state NY, and they will be there for several months. If I have not yet received any SPECIFIC information regarding the Prius Prime / Premium that I "special ordered" (on the 1st of May) by, oh... maybe the second week of July, then I might just ask them to start looking into the matter / to do a bit of "car shopping" on my behalf. So perhaps we shall ALSO see just how THAT might pan out........
Don't like this dealer who apparently knows he has his clientele over a barrel due to limited local availability of Primes and hence is keeping, "all Toyota incentives", as noted in his ad!! First time I've seen that stated for a Prime. Good luck negotiating with that guy!! .
There's one less Prime in the Midwest now since I've just added one to my driveway. 12 hours doing Prime related things yesterday (Thursday) and I'm worn out. The new car smell fumes alone has probably taken a week off my lifetime longevity. Those windows will be open for a while when I can.
Welcome aboard! What Olof did you get? Edit: Olof? Interesting spellcheck. Wonder what I typed to get there from 'color'?
Okay... so I haven't been around here much at all lately, but that's what happens when a guy is hunting "invisible" cars, getting roofing / shingle estimates, AND getting residential solar panel / array installation estimates all at the same time! Anywhooo... CONGRATS to DavidA... and after all the uncertainties and delays that I - like many others! - have been through, I might not be VERY far behind you! That's to say, IF the information below - from an e-mail I received - REALLY means anything. So... does it? "Hi Ed, Here is the build sheet of your Prius Prime. Look it over." Production Date: 07/14/2017 Available for Shipment: (this was left blank) Vessel Departure: 07/25/2017 Vessel Arrival: 08/07/2017 I was going to insert an image here, but I can't figure out how to "assign" a URL (or whatever it is I need to do)... sorry.... PS: In another e-mail, I received quite a bit of additional information... including a COMPLETE "VIN"!
Happy birthday to your Prime! It looks like it will be in time for your trip. Copy and paste works sometimes for images.
Hmmm... not at all sure about having it in time, or MAYBE it's just that I'm trying to NOT get my hopes up! In any event, I was looking for what I had thought was a thread / discussion about "Vessel Arrival" dates, and then how many days it was before arriving at dealerships, but now I can't seem to find it.... Copy and paste, eh? Hmmm... I think I tried that, too.... NOW... I'm trying "Upload a File" which I didn't notice last time... which SEEMS to work....
Son, congrats also on your car arriving soon. The actual VIN will change. If the VIN your dealer gives you has a letter in the last 6 numbers, it is a production number, which looks very VIN-like. A real VIN will be available pretty soon. In any case, I wouldn't be giving any VIN to your insurance company before you have the car in your hands. My Prime took 14 days to ship to my dealer, and that was after it arrived at the local holding lot. I have no idea why it took so long to travel the last 15 miles.
Here she is. Old one is on left. Thanks! Thank You! Wife won't get in it until the new plastic smell settles down bigly. I couldn't say covfefe, since Bob already stole my idea after the Olof thing above, so I used another Trump word.
I'm not sure if this applies specifically to the "midwest" thread, but I live in Colorado and ordered a Prime about a month ago. I had two dealers tell me that they were getting roughly one prime per month per dealership. Is this expected and is this what people are experiencing outside of California? One dealer told me 3-4 months and the other said 8-9 months.
