    Lets see:
    "No respect for the truth"
"people involved don't want to deliberately lie"

Kinda sounds like the CLINTONS - oops, wasn't he convicted of PERJURY? Did he not lose his license to practice law? It wasn't sex was it bill - nope, just a hummer.

It is kinda tough to debate when the facts are not on your side - we understand that - that is what the ignore button is for - ignoring the truth :D

    Poll Numbers . . .
Isn't that what people chastise politicians for watching too closely?

    The subject Pew Poll
    http://pewglobal.org/reports/display.php?ReportID=252

A different perspective* on the Pew poll numbers:

FAVORABLE OPINIONS OF THE US ARE:
UP 1% in Great Britain compared to last year
UP 2% in France compared to 2004
UP 2% in India compared to 2002
UP 5% in China compared to last year
UP 7% in Russia compared to 2003
UP 14% in Jordan compared to 2003
UP 15% in Indonesia compared to 2003
UP 16% in Nigeria compared to 2000
UP 17% in Pakistan compared to 2002

2006 shows the lowest favorable ratings of the US in:
    Germany - Down 1% compared to 2004
    Turkey - Down 3% compared to 2003
    Japan - Down 9% compared to 2002
    Spain – Down 15% compared to 2003
*Of course this is the Pollyanna view . . . interpreting in the most favorable light.

And another perspective** on the Pew poll numbers:
Satisfaction with internal state of nation from 2005 to 2006 with corresponding feelings toward the USA in 2006 compared to the most recent available past year data for that country:

COUNTRY / INTERNAL VIEW / VIEW OF USA / BIAS +-
    China / + 9% / +5% / (+/+)
    Russia / +9% / -9% / (+/-)
    Germany / +4% / - 4% / (+/-)
    Pakistan / -22% / +4% / (-/+)
    G.Britian / -9% / +1% / (-/+)
    Jordan / -16% / -6% / (-/-)
    Spain / -1% / -18% / (-/-)
    Turkey / -1% / -11% / (-/-)
    India / -10% / -15% / (-/-)
    Indonesia / -9% / -8% / (-/-)
    France -8% / -4% / (-/-)
** Of course, this is the kick-the-dog-when-you-are-feeling-bad view. <_<

Only Russia and Germany had better internal feelings combined with lesser views of the USA.
Pakistan and Great Brittian felt worse about themselves and better about the USA.

Don't ya just love generalizations made from polls? . . . USA sucks? :p

I hope they were wearing a mouth guard or cup...
    You are good.

Dont you just love to see people who only get satisfaction on bad news

Notice how discussions about the Iraq war are down to nil. I wonder if that corresponds to the poll yesterday that showed 48% of Americans think we are winning the war. And, I dont think there was one car bombing in Bagdad - or less people died in Bagdad than any major city in the U.S.

It must really suck to depend on negative news to give you a good feeling.....

I did once but quickly retracted it because it served no purpose other than surpressing other viewpoints. Something the left does so well if it does not agree with thier own.

Lefties are angry or unhappy because they have nothing to offer for the benefit of the nation. So they fall back on criticism and rail against anyone that points out the futility of negative rhetoric as a method of change. So defensive they become when this is pointed out that they miss the boat on doing anything constructive. They are in desperate need of having some sense slapped into them like a red-headed step child. Hopefully before they lose all creditability. Congrats to all you lefties supporting this loathsome conduct and perspective on how to serve your country. Pity the fools. :(

Agreed. I've been staying out of these fights lately because it's the same old thing from the right. It really amazes me how two intelligent people can see the same thing so differently. One with rose colored glasses and the other with straight plastic lenses with an anti-reflective coating.

We need Danny to make a Smilie that shakes it's head in amazement/disbelief while laughing its butt off!

I would use that one a lot!

1a - Faithful? - well actually has beaten her on record.
2a - Defended corporations way more than America. Actually it could be argued that he has weakened America in almost every way.
    3a - coming
4a - Almost lost his license to drive due to DUI.
5a - Lost every business he ever managed. Nice to have a bailout waiting,
5a - What?? Rove lives to manipulate polls.
6a - Totally wrong. Lost popular vote and lawsuits in FL are exposing how badly his brother 's state violated voter's rights
7a - Pretty racist view of women, but GW avoided Sudan like the plague and now is realizing we were asleep in Somalia as well
8a - Best friend Pakistan IS the nuclear genie.
9a - Hard to do with republican majority, but time will tell here. He has lied so many times that it defies description.
10a - National guard duty to avoid Vietnam and went awol. With enough money you can buy anything.
11a - Go me on that one. Wyoming is with Cheney, They can have him.
12a - And just how do you think this horrendous debt is going to be paid for? Get your head out of the sand dude. Can you say AMT?
13a - Right. They're just so lovey dovey that they can't seem to have a head stay in office for a year or two.
14a - This is a good thing? 21 billion missing in Iraq? I don't think so.
15a - And true to form, we have little or nothing to show for it
16a - You know this personally? Well, he did have the first male prostitute as part of the Republican sponsored press core.
17a - One you would have an intelligent conversation with, the other well, try another pretzel.

I'm not defending Clinton's transgressions, but it's funny how you've missed - more vacations than any other president, including just before 9/11 and during Katrina. Spent us in the deepest hole this country has ever seen. Done more to damage international reputation than most any other administration. 750 acts of congress ignored under "it's a secret" act, more lies than I can ever remember and on and on and on.

    Nice job, Begreen.

One left office with the country better off, all-around, than at any time since 1964. The other, with his trajectory, will leave office with the country worse off than any time since, well, take your pick between 1976 and 1932.

    "Pity the fools."

Fools rush in (to Korea, Vietnam, Iraq) where angels fear to tread.

There's a documentary called The Comedians of Comedy which follows three comedians on tour and one of them said it best. When someone says that they're republican, he says 'wow, you must really be rich'. Because if you're republican but not rich then you're kind of like the girl in high school that gave the guys on the football team BJs in order to be popular. They may appreciate the effort initially but they won't respect you.

I read a good quotation after Bush won the last election - something like this:

It is as though the sans-culottes stormed Paris demanding more power for the aristocracy"

The truth is, in a choice between smart sinners and doltish saints for leaders, wise people choose the former.

After all, getting yourself into Heaven shouldn't require following people who are sure to get there too, right?...

Be careful, time is fluid, it is not that cut and dried. Terrorists took root and a dot com bubble expanded to the breaking point near the end of the Clinton years. Both blew up just when Bush got in office. It is amazing that we didn't go into a depression.
