Mine never idles. This morning, I sat in the car waiting for someone for 20 mins with it powered ON. It was about 15 deg outside, and I'd been driving for 30 mins immediately before. After about 15 mins, the engine started up, I assume to warm me up - but I wouldn't have called it idling - more like 2000-2300 rpm.
The Prius engine never idles needlessly. The HSD system aims to run it at its most efficient speed when needed.
I miss the remote AC feature on the gen 3 fob. It would be great to have an iPhone app to start the climate control.
I will often take a Prius if I know I will be waiting ..... of if Im going on an appointment and take the dog. Being able to sit with the HVAC on is a great feature. Prius have to be low on the theft scale
I do that frequently when traveling in the summer. It does startle people (thank goodness) who think the dogs are locked in the car with the windows up. I put a note in the window saying "hybrid car, engine & aircon on".
No, just right something on a paper on place on dash " Air conditioning ON Pet comfortable DON'T BREAK MY GLASS" that's it.
Except for cats. We can't allow this special mode to be used for cats. Cats don't deserve it. Except for Tony the Tiger. He has respect.
LOL. My two cats get whatever they want. Is there a screen or barrier available to keep pets in the hatch area?
