Hi , i have a 2013 toyota prius 3 , and suddenly i have no sound in my audio, no sound in radio, bluetooth and CD. Reading few threads i kind of understand that may be the amp needs to be replaced. Does anyone has faced such situation , and does anybody know where is the amplifier located in 2013 prius 3 Thank you
The amp is built into the head unit. I assume everything else still works in that unit, phone, gps, etc? Nothing makes audio? If so, I would try locating and disconnecting the fuse and then replace. If still out then the head unit which is not too bad to replace if I remember right. Ebay has them from $153 to $3500. While the ebay part listed is 90% sure to be yours, I would go to the dealer with your vin and verify the part number installed in your car. toyota 8614047020 | eBay
Here are some tech files on the subject. Note that a short on the speaker wires will cause the output to quit. Also removal instructions.
Thank you for your reply, since i am not that tech savvy, i went to the toyota dealer for an inspection, toyota dealer mentioned that the amp is not working and they will have to replace the entire unit, and he gave me an estimate of $770. Do you think its reasonable , not sure where can i find some one to replace just the amp
The amp is built into the head unit. That price is good from a dealer if they are using new parts. Otherwise take my links to a local audio shop and get a price to install a used one. Maybe save half.
Like what rjparker said, look for a head unit on eBay with 57011 designation. The part numbers may vary based on different batches that were manufactured out, but as long as it's a 57011, then you'll be fine. I've seen prices go for less than $200! Make sure the unit also comes with the Harmon Nav / XM Satellite tray unit that's bolted under the main deck. Some salvage yards sell them without that Nav unit.
