2017 Prius Prime Color Choice

Bright blues seem to be "in", a lot of makes have one. But so far, it stands out wherever I park. The blue makes me happy when I look at it.

 

I agree. I have a Premium Silver. If I had to do it over again, I would have a Blue Magnetism Advanced.

 

I was with a couple other EV cars in a car show today. One man walked by and asked 'is that the color you wanted or did you have to settle for what they had?'

I think I got dissed.

Throwing in another vote for Titanium. This was my exact thought process! Plus "it will hide dirt well," "lighter colors are more visible to other drivers at night," and "I usually hate beige cars yet I think this color is really nice."

 

Silver was my choice initially but went for the Blue Magnetism. Because it's exclusive for the Prime so I'm hoping it will help resell value. It's a awkward turquoise but one thing for sure it stands out in a sea of vanilla colors in a airport parking lot.

 

My wife and wanted a bold color for our new Prime, so that meant we needed to choose between Magnetism Blue or Hypersonic Red. We weren't fond of the Magnetism Blue; it looked like it had a little turquoise mixed in in the pictures. So, we went with the Hypersonic Red. It looks great next to our Crystal Red Tintcoat 2012 Chevy Volt.

We also chose the Moonstone interior with the thought that the lighter color would make the interior feel more spacious.

We're very happy with our decisions.

 

Probably two dozen people have told me how much they like my Blue Prime's color. It looks different in person than in pictures because its actual color is outside the color gamut of display screens.

 

Very nice and sharp looking. TIP: Get those leaves out of your gutter or you will have home repairs soon.

 

The Blue Magnetism is actually more turquoise than the pictures, but I love it, it's quite distinctive. (in a good way) . I'm very happy I picked it, but I agree, the red looks really good too!

 

Thanks for the tip. This photo was taken in early May and the leaves are long gone. Also, the gutters are covered; not a problem.

 

After careful consideration of the few color options available here, I ended up ordering a Pearl White color Prius Prime (aka Prius Plugin).
I have been *really* tempted by Dark Grey, since a Dark Grey Prius Plugin was supposed to be available at the dealer within a couple of weeks from now. But the hot wave which is hitting Europe these days has convinced me that a light color is definitively preferable at these latitudes. And what color is lighter than white? Furthermore, I believe that the black roof (mine it's the solar roof version) should mate well with the black grille, and make a nice contrast with the white body. Now I have to be patient, the car arrival at the dealer is scheduled for the end of October.

 

I have red because, well it is red... But really I wanted to first advanced that the dealer had, which they called and said white, and I said no. Red was the second advanced they had. I live on a section of unpaved road, my cars are always coated in a layer of dust, white cars look like mud vehicles within a week. Most other colors seem to do better. I was looking for blue myself, but my wife actually liked the red and said she doesn't care for the blue, which surprised me as she had wanted blue for the car this replaces and they are similar but all we could get was gray.

 

I'm trying to buy the blue magnetism but the dealer says that Toyota has "stopped producing that color"? Is that true or is he just trying to get me to buy whatever he has in stock? Sounds like a con to me.

Well, I know I got my Blue Magnetism Prime in just last week. I suppose they could have stopped using it in between the time mine was built and when it got here, but I kind of doubt it. (It wasn't off the lot, I special ordered it)

 

Better not to buy from that dealership.
BTW, If you have time and money to fly to LA area and drive back up to SF, there are several blue ones available.

 

I don't have the time to go to socal but it seems like they are out of the blue on in the Bay Area at least for now. That is my favorite color. I am waiting to see the titanium glow but I loathe silver cars so I doubt I'll see this differently.
