Car and Driver delivers the bad news. The Lexus CT200h Is Dead | News | Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
I wonder if that's going to be the Lexus version of the C-HR. It might be worthwhile if they keep the excellent steering and handling characteristics of the CT, and add more power to the hybrid system.
Yeah I just don't like that look, wish the designers would get over it. Vehicles of that ilk look like rolling dumbells to me. Gigantic (expensive) wheels and rims, improbable flared fenders, ugh. I like that the CT200h had a more traditional, driver-centric dash. Too bad it's on the way out.
Yea, it's that crazy funky styling for the new buying crowd that just wants to be seen in a more "unique" vehicle than their friends. I'd rather see a beautiful hatchback design, or something else that can be called attractive, not just "different" because you can't call it anything else...
More than likely that will be so. The CT has just become a tough sell in the US between low gas prices and public preference for crossovers.
In the other two CT forum sites, a link was posted about the updated 2018 CT 200h available outside the US, with a few good pictures. Here it is: Lexus CT 200h updated, but discontinued in US
And here's another one using a Lexus press release with more pictures and details about the design changes and why they were done, directly from Lexus designers: Lexus Announces Updated 2018 CT 200h Hatchback | Lexus Enthusiast
Well gents I just picked up a 2017 CT 200 Fi model .Probably one of the last available here in Ontario. I had put down a deposit on a prime put alas not available here yet. Saw a review on the CT liked it always been a fan of the classic hatchback .Now a proud and happy owner .
I think this is a short-sighted mistake. the IS and CT had too much overlap. the IS250 / 200T should have been nixed instead. keep the IS350 for those who want performance, soften the ride of the CT for those who want luxury. win-win. I think Lexus expects potential CT buyers that do not go the IS route to instead move up to the ES 300h. And that's just not going to happen, because the ES is a grandpa-mobile.
Around here it is nearly impossible to find an AWD IS350. All the IS250's here are AWD. And we've looked at the CT before and the GS before. I don't know why people wouldn't "move up" to a GS. That's a fun car...
