hehe tanks, for some reason, im getting slightly worst mpg with the normal mode. I'm on pace for only 580km for this tank
Thanks for the precision. And by the way, how does a Prius fare in traffic? I have about 1h of traffic to enjoy myself through everyday. I guess it's like "city" driving, giving me better consumption since well, I don't really move.
I would say pretty well - I have a 30min commute every day (per each direction) and I manage between 3.8 and 5L/100km (calculated) depending on traffic conditions, how I drive, day of the week, temperature, tires (winter or summer). Considering the type/size of car and the engine power, I don't think that even a diesel can achieve that in city traffic, not even close... And even if you get higher values, still remember that you are still consuming less than any other car, in the same situation, around you. The only thing that would fare better is a plug-in or an EV. Not even a Smartfortwo will do better... (EU city cycle values, in relative terms, are worse than the Prius and the Auris).
Well it is a bit more peppy in normal mode and the A/C compressor isn't limited like it is in ECO mode. It depends on the driver. Some people get better mileage in normal or PWR mode because it fits their driving style better. Hmm, is this thread different because I could've sworn I replied to you as the 2nd post but there's no other post of mine in this thread...
We've owned our 2010 Prius since last September. Did 810km on my last tank. We never even saw 700 prior to this haha. I only added 36l of fuel too. That means I probably could have reached 900kms since I believe these tanks re 45l. I only drove on the highway twice on the tank and one of those two times I was doing like 130km/h to get to work on time lol. Rest of the time, I kept it under 90km/h on the backroads, where the speed went anywhere from 60-80km/h. I was hoping on seeing 4.0L/100km, but the one day I was doing 130 on the hwy ruined it lol
4.4 liters per 100 km's, no slouch. Maybe due to our short trips and 17" wheels, can't seem to push it lower than 4.9 so far this year.
I am getting 4.1 L/100Km displayed (~ 4.3 calculated) with (still breaking) new tires, my best tank was 4.0 calculated last year around this time.
Yes those are 17" tires, I got the Michelin Primacy MXM4, since this is a softer tire than the Pilots I had before, I pumped the tire pressure up to 38 psi. After almost 2,000 Km, I am pretty close to get the same FE as with the Pilots.
Need longer drives. My commute is short so my mileage is horrible but take a 80km round trip and I'm easily down into the low 4s. My record is 950.2km on 41.484 litres.
