Prius Prime Poll

I don't know how I feel about being the youngest person on here that owns a prime. I was 26 when I bought a Prius v and 29 now that I own a prime. My wife thinks we are too young for this.

 

Just put in 20-26 now, and it'll be fine then.

 

"Voted"... assuming we'll have ours before the latter half of October (hopefully LONG before then!), I'll "still" be 62....

 

Those 69-75 year olds must have opted out of Prius for Teslas.

I may be the oldest at 77. I traded in a 6-speed Miata for it and have never owned an EV or a hybrid. Just got tired of stop and go rush hour traffic in the Seattle area and decided to get something with an automatic and some safety features. So far, I love it.

 

I had a 2005 Prius that I just traded in for a Prius Prime this week. It's a completely different car. The drive in all-electric mode when charged is amazing.

While still fun to do, this poll obviously won't be even close to representative of the overall population of Prime buyers. Forum use itself skews the results.

 

I'm 67, due for 68 in Aug, but my heads at 23!! I still remember a teacher telling me I was immature; still am!!. Thank God for small favors!!
I like getting "Extreme" cars, never middle of the road, boring stuff which is why I bought my 2017 Prius Prime Advanced: extreme fuel economy with luxury!

Done, thanks. I've been busy reading the unabridged encyclopedia Toyota calls the Prime's Owner's Manual and it's many supplements.

 

Instead of age, I like to think of it as "experience" or "thoughtfulness" - I've had my share of experiences with cars that broke down, that guzzled gas, etc. I want a reliable car. Or maybe the demographic is for "thinking people" who research a lot - I'm also one of those. I want a car that is reliable, gets great gas mileage, and is good for the planet, because I know that everything I do is a choice. I tend to live more in my head - perhaps people who tend to research less/not care about the future as much (e.g., cost of car over time, reliability...) would go for a car that they loved at first sight? Me, I was a little "Meh" about the looks of the Gen 3 Prius, and needed to keep pushing myself to continue to look at used car sites, until I saw the silver body side molding, and the illuminated door sills. I travelled an hour and a half to see Spike. I love that car!

 

Hello HPprime. I see we are about the same age and that you are a big Alfa fan. I went thru a couple of Vettes back in my day and a Boss Mustang. I do miss the roar of those V8’s on occasion.

 

So.... Did you get it stolen? Or maybe a better question : how many times was it stolen? I'm still looking for a semi-decent example to pick up (an acquaintance uses a Denver boot on his own car to prevent theft - I plan on doing the same thing).

That 914 is a great car - you just have to drop an LS motor in it (just like the 944). People at the track are often shocked.

I bought the car on a bit of a whim - with the discount and tax credit, it was cheap enough to be an interesting new-car project. I also really like the rear hatch. Wish it had a lower roofline though - then it would be like a (very slow) 4-door NSX.

 

What made you decide to sell the ITR? Fresh out of school I had a 1991 Integra LS 5spd I had for a year. Bought it at 170k and sold it at 180k. That thing was running like a champ, sold it to a high schooler. Kind of regret selling it... I casually browse websites for unmolested Integra GSRs/Type Rs, but they are rare.

To answer the OP's question, I don't own a Prime, but I tell my daughter I'm a perpetual age of 3 years (a la Bart Simpson). So by the time I get a Prime, I should be 3

Just tell her to think about what you can do in a decade or two with all the gas money you're saving!

It's that money-saving part that makes me wonder why everyone doesn't want a hybrid, even if you somehow don't care about global warming. I mean, you can get up to 60 faster in your Mustang or whatever, but then there you are, going 60. Beside a Prius, also going 60.
