$2 price increase in two years? That's not much. Honestly, I have one and am quite happy with it and heck, it helps support Priuschat!

From my experience, those sunshades I bought were less than $20. Also I saw one review in the purchase link saying it's flimsy. That's why I have in doubt if anyone has other good alternatives.

The ones I have bought in the past have been nowhere near as good as the one I purchased here and they were cheaper, yes. Plus, as mentioned, they help support Priuschat. If others have good alternatives, by all means...

I agree with Paradox. I have used the cheap flimsy units in the past. The unit I purchased through the Prius Chat Shop is much sturdier and of much higher quailty than the any other heat shade I've seen. The price is fine and you can potentially recoup the cost in fuel savings due to reduced heat load on the AC unit.

Thanks for all the comments. I just bought one and will come back to update my findings. :)

    [Update]
    Pro:
I love the quality of the shade.

    Cons:
    1) It is sort of over-sized.
    2) The "roll-up" type of this sun shade is not as easy to put up and store as those "folding up" typsun shades. Especially if you have someone sitting on the passenger side, you are going to hit him/her and it's hard to roll-up in the car due to the limited space. It takes a lot of space when it is rolled-up.

Overall, nice unit with room to improve.

I used the Heatshied today, and it left ridges in the soft fuzzy interior pillar trim on both sides of the car. The ridges are slowly going away. I guess you cannot position the shade too close to the pillars. Hopefully, heat from the sun will make the marks disappear tomorrow.

Update...great news. The marks in the interior pillars disappeared today. I plan on using this shield but will make sure that it does not contact the fragile interior pillars. The quality of the Heatshield is very good and compares to a custom shield purchased for an Audi several years ago, and that shield was $50.

I purchased the front heat shield for my 2012 Five through the Prius Chat Shop, have used it several times now... excellent quality.

I apologize if this was mentioned elsewhere, I did a quick search but didn't see anything.

I purchased the front heatshield for my 2012 Prius. It just arrived and both the packing slip and the plastic cover say "Prius v" and only Prius v on it, no mention of 2010-2012 Prius anywhere. Is this the right size product for the regular 2012 Prius? If you look at the links for both of them in the store, they both say [1215], but I want to be sure before I open it.

    Thanks!

    PriusChat Shop : 2010-2012 Toyota Prius HeatShield Sunshade - Front [1215] - $32.00

    PriusChat Shop : 2012 Toyota Prius v HeatShield Sunshade - Front [1215] - $32.00

(Edit:I searched a little more on the web and am pretty certain that they are identical, but any confirmation here would be great, I still haven't opened)

I had my daughter-in-law (she is very good with a sewing machine) take a couple of inches off the top of the one that I used in my 07 and it is a good fit in my 2011. When I tried it without the modification it reflected the sunlight on the front edge of the headliner. My thought is that that heat would be harmful to the material on the headliner. Now it fits just like it was made for the car.

I bought a super jumbo sized Magic Shade at Walmart for $13. It fits well and rolls up into a compact sized disc, which is easy to store away. Works better and cheaper for me than the monstrous sized Heatshield.

Just got one for my 2014. Fits great and knocks about 20 degrees (seems like) from the interior temp. at the end of my workday.

I ordered front & back HeatShields for my 2010. The front one works well, though a little hard to get in around the rearview mirror.

The rear one, however wants to fall down on the driver's side. I finally learned that the edge has to be carefully stuffed into the window/trim joint to create some resistance and help the suction cup. Top edge is a little over-cut too, and doesn't fit flat against the window exactly.

I called CanvasWorks, and they referred me to PriusChat where I bought it. Used the on-line form to ask for help, but no response in a week.

    Any advice? Thanks....Lyle

Why are all these links dead? seems most of the links/info on this site is dead/from 2009. Maybe admin should correct these/update the links if they want to sell stuff. Was actually interested in buying this stuff.

You're right, and I apologize. All of those links should properly redirect now, and I've updated the pricing.

If you find any more, please tag me by typing in "@Danny" in your message and I'll see it.

I've had my sunshade for a couple of weeks now. It is the best sunshade I've ever had for blocking the sun and minimizing heat build up. It's not the most user friendly though. It is huge and unwieldy when trying to maneuver it inside the car. It also could use a few inches more velcro strap so it doesn't have to be carefully wound so tightly when storing. I would love to have one that is two piece and then could also cover the area currently notched out for the mirror. That would also be very handy when parked at an angle so that really only one side needs a shade. I call dibs on one from the first batch if/when we are fortunate enough to have the option.

Has anyone bought the full set? Front, back, and side windows? I made my own, but I'm interested replacing them with these if they are perfect fits. Pictures of the whole set installed would be so helpful. Thank you!
