I got an 05. Metra 70-1761 wiring harness does not fit. (See attached photos) I can't find a harness that does fit. To add insult to injury, the A/C and MPG traking doesn't work unless the OEM radio is installed. What do you suggest I do to install an aftermarket radio while maintaining all the original functions? Just splice the wires and install it?
Got my pioneer installed at Best Buy. They did a great job using the interface harness and everything works Including all the steering wheel controls. So there's a off the shelf interface for a g2 available no splicing necessary. Got the front speakers replaced with pioneers too and the system sounds 100% better.
I had an issue with the MPG tracking after my double din install until they put a resistor somewhere. I bet if you search there is a thread about it.
i bought a scosche adapter harness and the metra axxess for my '04. the scosche kit had the resistor preinstalled. it worked perfectly. if you have the jbl, you got a whole nuther problem and need something called a tyto adapter kit. I forgot exactly what it is because I decided not to spend the money and just kept the jbl in my'06.
My car has a JBL stereo system. I needed to buy a metra TYTO-1 harness and 68 ohm resistor. Thanks for the help.
Yep a 68 ohm resistor was required, the instructions on how to use it came with the JBL specific harness.
There are two options, mounting a single DIN below the factory one behind the push-out door (See this thread: Stealth install an aftermarket stereo in Prius | PriusChat) or replacing the facory system with a double DIN (or maybe larger) and using an adapter kit. If the stock radio is disconnected a resistor needs to be installed as noted by others. See the stealth install thread for a lot of tips on wiring, IIRC it covers how to do both setups.
