nokia 6102I

    I am able to hook up my Nokia 6102I with my 2005 Prius however, cannot transfer the Phone Book.
    I have Cingular. I will try the business card thing that I saw from a previous post on a different Nokia.
    However, does anyone have the 6102i and have you been able to transfer the phone book?

    If this has already been discussed, I haven't been able to find it and if you could repost link that would
    be very helpful.

    I don't have the same phone as you. I just bought a Samsung SGH-d807 but I am on Cingular. The transfer works for me but I use the "send via Bluetooth" option in the address book menu on the phone.
    However, when I make the transfer only the number shows in the phonebook. I don't know if this is normal or whether the name should also appear. Do you know how it is supposed to work?

    I tried it yesterday when I got home from work. What I did was transfer the names individually using the
    "send as a business card" method. It makes you drop the connection(BT) and start it up with each entry. I only got two in until it wouldn't pick up the connection period. So I'll try it again today.

    As for your question JoesphF, yes it did show the name in the phonebook.

    This is probably the wrong place to ask this question but I am a rooky here so please help me out.

    I had a Motorola V551 working fine on Bluetooth in my 2005 Prius and I dropped it in the lake last week. Got a new Nokia 6102i and I am having a devil of a time getting the bluetooth on the Prius to "discover" it. Can somebody out there give me a step by step method of getting it to recognize my new phone. It appears that there are some 6102i's working out there on Prius's because I have read that some are having trouble getting Phone books to transfer. Wish I could get that far but have not had any luck. Both phones are/were on Cingular............... Thanks to anybody who can help

    Check the bluetooth settings on your phone. It might be set so it is not discoverable. Make it discoverable to pair it with the Prius. Afterwards you should make it not discoverable again for security. (The term "discoverable" may differ from phone, some say visible)

    I've had the same problem with mine. Sometimes it hooks up right away, sometimes it takes a few tries, sometimes it does nothing.

    Try this

    Connectivity-----Bluetooth----Bluetooth on-----Search for Audio Devices


    Also you may want to be in the Phone settings screen on your Prius. I don't know if that means anything but try it anyway!

    My problem now is once it disconnects,say I have to call out while the car is moving and I have to switch to my handset, it wouldn't reconnect. Even after I turned my phone off and on.
    It seems to be pretty tempremental. Then again, it could be operator error!

    BTW, while I'm on the subject of having to dial while driving....can I use the voice commands in the phone screen to make a call since it won't let me while the car is moving.
    I tried while in the map screen but it kept giving me "heath & fitness" categories on the map.

    Did you know you can dial out by voice commands? I don't have a blue tooth phone yet, but my son does, and he tried it when I was visiting for the long weekend. Push the button on the keyboard that looks like a person talking, then it will prompt you through. It seemed to take a while to get the 'voice technique' down pat, but it DOES work.

    I did figure out today that the 1 touch dial works. However, you need to remember which phone number is where because it doesn't show the number while driving.

    After having it for almost a month now I can say its working great. If it doesn't connect right away give it less than 30 seconds & it connects. But it works the first time more often than not. Heck, the other day my hubby was in the car waiting for me at the mall, as I walked past the car it connected to the Bluetooth and I wasn't even inside!

    I've given up on the phone book & just put my most frequent dialed calls into the one touch or I just dial from the handset and let it connect that way.
    No regrets on the Nokia. Love the record feature. Getting to the camera is a little clunky but other than that I'm pretty happy with it.

    I too have issues with reliable connection of my 6102i with my Prius. Like others, I had a Moto (v505) that worked great, so the issues must be in the 6102i.
    I do have a data point to report however: If I take the phone out of my pocket and unlock the keypad, the probability of first-time connection goes way up...maybe 99%.
    I suspect the trouble is that 6102i has a very aggressive sleep mode to save battery, and it deactivates the BT interface for long periods. When the Prius reports "failed connection", the car must send out a BT packet, which then wakes up the BT interface in the phone. By first unlocking the keypad, the phone probably wakes up its BT interface, thus resulting in the better connection probability.
    Please try this method, and report your findings, as I would like to know.

    (Yes, I agree having to take phone out of pocket is a drag for such a hi tech car as the Prius.)
